At least combat wise. Sure they have the bad record of jumping to their death with a jet-pack. But do they have a little more health, or are they more accurate?
Are they any better?
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't mean for an explanation of their history.

All the UNSC AI in this game sucks lol. I think of them as moblie ammo. I did Exodus on Legendary yesterday and the UNSC AI just stood there lol. They didnt even get shot at lol.

Yes ODST's are better

ODSTs receive additional training and the armor also helps in environments regulating body temperature. Also they are special forces deployed on any dangerous missions that would deem near suicidal.
-
I know about them canon-wise, I meant gameplay-wise. But I was just wondering since you really don't get to see them in combat with other marines enough to compare.
Posted by: CONAN9845 All that matters is that they are both better than Noble.
Especially that failure, Six. He did nothing on Legendary.

In games? Hell no. In canon? They're analogous to the 'green berets' or special airborne forces of the US military. They pretty much are like... A marine is like hell yes. An ODST is like YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
-
well in halo 2 the odst always survived somehow in legendary and the regular marines just layed down and died=)
-
Yes, just look at Buck's team... I would love to see a marine squad what the ODST squads do... [Edited on 12.26.2010 4:44 PM PST]

Yeah.

ODSTs: Gruesomely trained over a few months. Put into dangerous situations and given some spec-ops equipment. Spartans: Trained from birth. Genetically altered to become super-human. Given equipment that costs more than a battlecruiser. So yeah, the equipment may have a little to with it. But Spartans still have way more than ODSTs.
-
lol yeah they get extra armor
-
In canon, yes. In games, not really.
-
I would say so, they are like the Special Forces of todays military. So it would like comparing United States Air Force enlisted ranks with Air Force Pararescue special forces.

Yes. ODST are special forces. Marines are just Marines, but in the game there all the same.

All that matters is that they are both better than Noble.
