Why was Carter Flying the Pelican?
I have a minor tiff about Carter being the one flying the pelican out from Halsey's lab. Noble 6 was selected for his piloting abilities (see the guidebook) as well as his talents as an infantryman. Would it not have been 6's job to fly the pelican?
Note: I think Carter Should have taken over in the Banshee attack. It would even explain how he got bloodied up if he was firing on them. I guess I'm just confused about the roles in Noble team...

OR seeing as she was also networked into the UNSC simultaneously (as implied by the cut-scenes) she could have just hacked everything from everyone and made sure she got out of there by using EVERYONE and their assets as pawns.

The reason Carter was driving was because he wanted to make sure siix would be able to abandon ship if anything went wrong.

also it says on halopedia that due to the Covenant's surprise assault on Reach, both Cortana and the "Master Chief" were able to fend off Covenant forces at Reach. They were eventually forced to flee the burning planet, heading to a random location as per the Cole Protocol. However, Cortana secretly inserted coordinates translated from symbols on a rock that Master Chief discovered on Sigma Octanus IV, thinking that they were of some significance to the Covenant. Want to really blow your mind? Would Carter had to have sacrificed himself if you had just stayed in the pelican? I mean he made it that far without getting blown up so why did you have to run on the ground?

One of these fragments, which contained all of her higher functions and personality, was stationed on board the UNSC Pillar of Autumn, while the other was tasked with mining data from the Forerunner artifact beneath Sword Base.

yeah ive been wondering this myself does seem convenient that Carter was flying rather than six, considering his skills as a pilot it seems odd. maybe Carter got pissed that Cortana chose six over him and told him to get all back of the pelican n -blam!- lol

I actually like Carter's death scene, I just think it would have been more dramatic for him to take the controls from 6 because he's not fit for ground combat/ the pelican has become a risk etc.

Carter didn't know about the sabre program when he selected 6, Kat had to find that out. Besides, 6 is rated for all of the other vehicles in the game, why not a pelican? Also, he didn't NEED to where the tube on his back at all times, its just a protected place in combat (assuming he faces the enemy).
