Can you kill A Phantom In Firefight (Halo Reach)

You can kill all kinds of Phantoms to your hearts content in the final level.

sometimes if you hit it with enough rockets it falls to the ground (no explosion) then dissapears. i've done it once by accident. i was aiming for the turret and the rocket went inside the phantom and hit something other than an enemy. phantom stopped dead in the air and suddenly dropped. doesnt show up in stats, nor do the enemies in the phantom count for a kill
