On November 7, 2549 when she is talking about Cortana's face, she says she looks like herself in her college years but also looks partly like Miranda. On April 6, 2550 she wrotes that Miranda joined the UNSC despite she was opposing it fiercely. She also says tha Miranda had been always immune to her protests. Then she says that Miranda did change her lastname to Keyes and joined the military to impress her father Jacob Keyes. She also says that she should have stopped Miranda doing that but instead she had to accept it but she organized that Miranda would be deployed to less dangerous zones of the galaxy. If she is not her daughter, why would she be so concerned and treating her like her own? And why was Miranda not using the name of her father from the beginning? To me it is obvious that Miranda is the biological child of Dr. Halsey and Lt./Captain Keyes.

It is speculated as (appaently) Keyes and Halsey had a VERY friendly relashonship...
