• Hm. One of my solutions proven wrong. But if .9 continued forever it would never add that last tiny insignificant 1 that it needs to actually REACH 1. You could easily round it to 1. But it would never completely touch 1.

It does not, nor will it ever, equal 5.
Your assuming your evidence is proven to be 100% incorruptable. Everything can be, and will be (if not already) questioned with harder found evidence, until something else comes along once again to refute that.
Listen, you're living in the world of philosophy. Yes, in some mind warp kind of way NOTHING can be accepted as true. Maybe we're all dreaming, living in the matrix. Maybe you're the only one who actually exists and everyone else is a product of hallucination. But that's not a very practical way to live, is it? When I'm standing on the edge of a cliff, I'm not thinking about the infinite possibilities of what could happen to me if I step off. No, I'm just thinking about all the evidence that would suggest stepping off would be bad. Facts aren't concerned with unprovable hypothetical situations. Facts are only concerned with what's provable. And 1=.999... IS provable.

I'm saying you were criticizing the people of ancient times because they believed something that they had no proof to back and ignored people with facts. I'm saying that you're doing just that right now.
