I despise Banshees now, especially in Reach because controlling them is a major pain in the rectum. Constantly holding up and unable to look down without going into the ground kamakazi style is very, very difficult. It's hard getting kills with the Banshee, I was really good on halo 2 and 3, but now I've nearly given up on them. DMR's are strong against Banshees, and getting a solid amount of kills *more than 2* is difficult.
So why are they so unstable? Is it just me having difficulties, or not liking these things?
Would altitude lock be good for Banshees :S?

Although It would make it alot easier to fly, the current one is perfect. Infact when I use it I get 30-40 a game with it. Thats when all I do is fly it.

Teh puma misses CE banshees... FULL ON REVERSE BANSHEE FOR THE FREAKING WIN!

The Banshee is extremely overpowered, not sure what you're talking about. You must just suck with it.

I have example of video that you can took out banshee by using Grenade Launcher and DMR. here rendered video
Posted by: Gangster No1
Posted by: Dragon Shadow every time he shot bomb, he hit hard backflip and search for new victim. if not, he hit evade and running away, then return to his hunting spot. repeating
That's exactly how you use the banshee properly. It's a fragile vehicle, so you have to swoop in, strike, retreat. But many people get into prolonged firefights with them and get shot down quickly, then they complain that the banshee sucks. *sigh*
I personally seek out Banshees with my DMR >:]

I liked the Banshees in ODST better.
Posted by: Methew I think you mean hover. They don't hover because they are analogous to airplanes. It's also to balance the vehicle, it's firepower and maneuverability is balanced by the fact that it doesn't have a lot of time to bring it's power to bear. It also differentiates it from the Hornet/Falcon.
Nice answer :] I thought it'd be nice though if they did hover, or have altitude lock though, sometimes anyways. And to the guy who commented below this, I agree, but the Spartans are more well equipped and fighting suitable in Reach even though this is technically the 1st game..
Posted by: FrozenLaughs Aren't the Banshees originally designed for space combat?
Nope, they were designed as air support/reconnaissance vehicles.
Posted by: Dragon Shadow Halo Reach Banshee is quite different from Halo 3. best use is using evade moves to look around. right and left = 2x barrel roll up = soft backflip (flip without using boost) down = hard backflip (flip with using boost) you can do U-turn really fast by do soft backflip and turn aiming to back. one time, one player is really good with Banshee, (I called him Banshee King after what happen) every time he shot bomb, he hit hard backflip and search for new victim. if not, he hit evade and running away, then return to his hunting spot. repeating
^He's right^ That's how I got my invincible >:D

I can do a "half-assed" explanation. Since reach was before the Halo trilogy, it could be the 1st design of a banshee, but later on in the years, they improved on it's flight mechanism enabling to fly as well as it did.

Easy kills from a flying death machine is not fun for everyone.
-
I agree with you guys, they aren't made for kamakazi but, since like 80% of the maps are forgeworld based theres a lot of stuff to fly into. Was wondering if Bungie should add the lock altitude to the banshees since falcons now have them..

Aren't the Banshees originally designed for space combat? Bringing them into a planet's atmosphere and gravity they weren't (re)designed for... yet? Just my theory.
-
I wouldn't quite call it that difficult but I do see where you're coming from. I definitely prefer the Halo 3 Banshee piloting controls and didn't take this long to adjust between Halo 2 to 3.
-
If you do kamakazi into the ground try to hit the tank. On topic: It's not hard to fly most of the time.

I like it because it is painfully obvious when someone who doesn't know how to fly one is trying to shoot you and runs into the side of a mountain. Lol. I find it funny and I use the evade of the Banshee a lot and seems like I can fly it a lot easier than in Halo 3.
