Just wondering. Obviously it isn't easy or normal, otherwise the war wouldn't have been going on for 25+ years, and in the books, it sounds almost impossible to kill shielded Covenant.

In the books, Fuel Rods can dismember humans with their explosions, and a Grunt can rip a human's stomach apart by biting and clawing at them. I'm not sure any difficulty is canonical.
-
Heroic allways seemed like the line for me, pretty much insanity for normal marines and ODST's and still easly difficult for Spartans, any other difficulty after this and it seems a little too much.
-
Mythic, just without Black eye, Grunt birthday party, blind, and cloud.
-
Heroic. It says this is How Halo is meant to be played.
-
>9000>Legendary Basically one Elite is greater than or equal to a Spartan II, and Plasma kind of pwns. [Edited on 12.16.2010 9:53 PM PST]

There was a thread just like this about a year ago
-
I'd say a mixture of Normal and Legendary. Grunts aren't bullet sponges, but they are in Legendary difficulty; while Elites are almost indestructible, but they are not in Normal difficulty.
-
heroic with mythic, thunderstorm, and iron.
-
Yeah but I think bungie did'nt made an actual ALL fact realistic difficulty because killing grunt with one bullet would'nt be fun so... and they made ballistic bad agasint shield but plasma goood and vice versa
-
Posted by: scmitar1 I reckon it's legendary, with a few skulls on and ramped up AI. Not quite mythic, but damn close. The spartans have to be seriously skilled to get anywhere.
Then triple plasma damage. I mean really, who decided PLASMA was ineffective agains health? Really?
-
Well I have arguments for you all. I think the game is meant to be played on heroic because of the difficulty and it is more fun in certain ways BUT I think canon is normal for a lot of things. First of all it's the default difficulty but also the most realistic in terms of grunts ranks and elites etc. On normal you can have a group of 3 minor grunts and 1 major but in Heroic it can be 2-3 major for 1 minor wich would mean in the army like 3 sergeant for a private wich seems unrealistic. In halo CE there is also the shield recharging speed which is ( on normal ) like 4 second to total recharge and on heroic is much faster and in Halo 2 the gunnery sergeant says as you can see it recharge a lot faster but if you play on heroic ( or legendary which is the same recharge speed as the mark 6 ) so on heroic its 1 second difference which is *a lot faster* seems most unrealist. So for me it's normal also for the fact that in Halo wars the arcadia first level you can see 6 hornets on the video alas in heroic you start only with 4 which contradict the video.the only thing that is good for heroic is the damage you deal to other *player* spartan is the same as in multiplayer even if you play on other diff. On heroic the elites minor and major's shield are also the same damage resistance from Halo CE to Halo reach. But for me ultimatly I think normal for all the reasons above. And also books can sometime contradict as the shield of Master Chief gets hit with a fuel rod gun from a Hunter and MC lose is entire shield and suffer little burns but in heroic one shot Kill. And also on the Halo the flood book master chief's shield recharge very slowly so again Normal for me :)

You all have it wrong. Spartans don't get 3 shotted by elites (so it's not legendary) but elites are really hard to take down (so it's not heroic or lower) So the perfect difficulty to play Halo on if you want it to be realistic (as realistic as fiction can be) is... HEROIC WITH TILT! That way Spartans don't have to cower behind cover but it takes a lot of skill to take down an elite. Yep, I'm a genius.
-
Heroic, thats how Bungie do Legendary is for those that want the full fledged holy $#!7 these aliens aint' no joke moments.
-
Hard to say. In the books everything does more damage, Human and Covenant weapons alike. But I'd say probably Heroic. [Edited on 12.01.2010 8:42 PM PST]
-
Heroic, according to Bungie.
-
Heroic, I believe. Of course, there are no continues, so it's harder.
-
It's a little mix of Heroic and Legendary. Legendary for weapon damage but Heroic so the Covenant don't have insane amounts of health.
-
Heroic is the way Halo is meant to be played.
-
In the books, everything seems really overpowered. I recall in Contact Harvest, someone having to pin a Brute against a wall with a Warthog ram, and he still carried on moving, so I guess it may be legendary, but then that might be too hard in some aspects as although Spartans die, they don't get killed say every five seconds lol. As for the Halopedia article, it suggest Heroic is the best choice, but then again, this is coming from a website that says just because Halsey talks at the end of Reach means she got off the shield world Onyx, an dit doesn't at all MEAN that. I would say heroic.
-
Legendary [Iron On] [Thunderstorm On] Yeah... [Edited on 12.01.2010 1:59 PM PST]
-
heroic
-
Legendary with iron on.
-
They said halo was meant to be played on heroric. But I don't know if that means that it is also canon.
-
Posted by: Vanguard242 Normal is canon in terms of weapon damage and shield strength, however Heroic is canon in terms of enemy behavior.
A single overcharged plasma bolt from a Plasma Pistol can canonically kill a Marine, this isn't the case with normal at all. Also, shields are not that strong because they were simply reverse-engineered from the shield gauntlets Jackals carry. Legendary is canon in just about every sense (minus Grunt behavior).
-
Heroic because the difficulties description even says and I quote Halopedia on this, "Bungie has stated that Heroic difficulty is the "true Halo universe". Read the 2nd paragraph of the summary section and you will see for yourself. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Heroic
