My nephew would really like a Reach action figure or two, and I've never bought either. SO. My question is which company do you think I should get these from?
The Kai ones don't come out til the 30th and are about $45, meaning I can only get him one. Maybe two.
The McFarlane ones range from $15-30 apparently, so I could get three to five depending on the pricing.
Since the Play Arts Kai figures are so much more expensive, the quality must be better. They certainly look better anyway. And I've heard all these terrible reviews about McFarlane and their quality control.
What should I do? One or two expensive, probably better quality figures? Or risk buying (potentially) the entire Noble team from McFarlane? Penny for your thoughts D: Thanks!
Square Enix Play Arts Kai Noble Team figures:

I would probably get these two from Square Enix if that's what's recommended. Has anyone pre-ordered any of these figures?

...The proportions look kinda funky on the Kai figures. Or is that just me?
Posted by: MKScorpion If you gonna' go to the trouble to get your nephew one or two of the Kai figures, wouldn't it be better to just get him some of the McFarlane ones with the same amount of money? Hell, you could get him Noble Team, some enemies and a vehicle or two.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's just every time I look up the McFarlane figures, there's these terrible reviews beneath them on how the paint job was awful or the pieces broke or they don't hold the weapons right or whatever and it concerned me. Like I said, he's probably at that age where he'll just put them on his shelf to admire them and if they look like crap, I've failed. And I've never ordered any of these silly things so I don't know heads or tails about what's best for whatever purpose. But, because of the pricing, I can only get a couple of the Play Arts figures, rather than the entire Team from McFarlane. Just looking for thoughts from people that have either bought the McFarlane ones or pre-ordered from Square Enix. (: [Edited on 11.26.2010 12:47 PM PST]
Posted by: nsundvall Get a Arts Kai one. McFarlane is terrible. AK may be more expensive but the quality is much better.
I suppose. Most likely he's going to put these figures on his shelf as collectibles, rather than running rampant through the backyard with them...
