All of Noble Team's deaths are ironic

Carter: Accepted the task for his team and died for his team to complete it. Emile: The badass character died after he tried being badass. Kat: The smart planner girl died after forgetting to re-activate her shields when she put on her helmet. Jorge: He tried to save his planet but died before the full assault. Noble Six: He died while fighting alone. "I want you to leave that lone wolf stuff behind." Discuss EDIT: FOR THE LULZ - Jun: Gets sniped by a Jackal with a family that loves his cooking [Edited on 11.24.2010 8:04 PM PST]
Posted by: xBl4dex InFeRnO All accurate except for Kat. EMP from the glassing and the shockwave deactivated her shields, she didn't forget.
No, she did forget. If it was EMP, the elevator wouldn't have worked.

 • Actually, the glassing EMP'd Kat and she died while questioning Holland's orders. Jun did absolutely nothing of value during the Campaign... so he died from nothing. Not at all. Ha!

 • They weren't really ironic, because for something to be ironic, there has to be a difference between what happens and what was intended to happen by the person in question. So for Noble 6 and Emile, they knew they would die when they volunteered to get on the mass driver cannon. Jorge knew he was going to die when he stayed behind, and I think he knew better than to assume that blowing up one ship would keep Reach safe forever. Once the last level started, everyone (including the audience) knew that Carter was going to die, and he died (the only bit of irony here might be that everyone expected Carter to die from his injuries, not in a suicide attack on a Scarab). Only Kat's death was ironic, because she was the one encouraging everyone to reach safety and ended up being the one who died on the way.
In that post that you butchered, I explained how the radiation can't make her shields go ka-put.
For the record, we all know EMPs are caused by electromagnetic radiation, right? I'm not at all arguing it was there, but I just hope everyone involved realizes replacing "pulse" with "radiation" is not making the argument different, at all. Also, before I accept the claim that Spartan's suits need to be manually rebooted after reconnecting the helmet, may I ask for your source?
Have you read the books?
Yes, all of them in fact, but I've only memorized them backwards in five languages instead of my goal of 7...thus, I haven't quite gotten to the point where I can summon every little detail from the depths of my memory... *sigh*...sorry, I'm tired. -_- Anyway, another poster provided the source. •
Posted by: Cmdr DaeFaron Concerning the shields issue, when the system is completely overloaded, it has to be manually reset. Also, there is NOTHING saying Noble Team had their shields up in that room, and expecting nobody to be there they didn't activate them due to the rush to escape the possibility of being glassed. (Manual reset comes from when John first got his Mark V armor. They overloaded the shields and told him to press the manual reset button located around the chin area I believe.) My question is HOW you know for 100% sure that radiation could not, in any way, disable the shielding system? Another thing. Carter and Jun had their helms off, when they put them on guess what? No shield start up either. Knowing Spartans, they would activate shields ASAP in that situation, which comes to the conclusion, THEY COULDN'T.
However, another explanation could be that excess radiation from the nearby Covenant glassing shorted out her shields, as she may have been exposed to the radiation longer than the other members of Noble Team.
There was no explosion, it was a continuous glassing beam. Meaning the radiation would be constantly going out.
There's never a way to tell when they re-activate their shields after their helmets are back on.

Gee, I don't know, maybe because she was using it BEFORE the glassing beam fired? And after that, she doesn't have it out at all? As for the elevator, backup systems? Read about it on Wikipedia, they were also talking about it on Future Weapons one time.
