Hey there, as mentioned by ishikusai, Ensnaring Slam is not a class ability, despite using class ability energy. This is an important distinction, and the same applies to Ascension. Despite this, those abilities have been allowed to work with a number of things that do trigger from the usage of a class ability, such as Powerful Attraction. The list of what works with them however is a curated one, that was first implemented in The Final Shape era. When Edge of Fate launched, this list was added to. However there has never been any intention for every ability to work with them in this same way - so anything not included on the list, such as Slice, has been deliberately excluded.
