I've just completed my 52nd lap around a 4.6-billion-year-old star...
From the moment I was born, I've been a passenger on a big blue marble hurling through the vacuum of space at 67,000 miles per hour...
I didn't just "get older" - I successfully navigated 30 billion miles of deep space...
On lap 1, the universe was a blur of light and sound...
By lap 18, I was testing my own gravity...
By lap 40, I'd weathered enough solar cycles to know that every winter eventually yields to spring...
Today, I return to the exact celestial coordinates where my journey began, but I'm not the same person who started this trip...
My path isn't a closed loop, it's a spiral, gaining wisdom and weight with every revolution...
As I ignite my engines for lap 53, the view remains spectacular....
Happy birthday to me, captain...

1 ReplyI love this! But let me add this: You have traveled much, much farther. Don't forget the solar system itself is hulling -blam!- through the vacuum of space! You're essentially a deep space explorer at this point. Happy birthday dude.

1 ReplyHappy Birthday! I'll be 45 later this year. I thought I was one of the older players here but, judging from all the comments here, I guess I stand corrected.

1 ReplyA wise man once said, You have to go around the big fire ball 21 times before you can legally drink poison that tastes good.

1 ReplyHappy Birthday! I'll be notching my 61st lap in July. We rotate around our planet's core, our planet rotates around the Sun, the Sun Rotates around Sagittarius A Star at the Milky Way's core (With an additional carousel like path above and below the galactic plane) Motion sickness anyone? ;)

Happy Birthday! I look at it in the same way as laps around the sun... while the sun laps around the gravimetric center of the milky way... as that hurdles towards the great attractor... ...as a birthday gift > Gu-arms-dian Wee-Games brought to you by Bungie :) -
