If pvp dies this game dies

The reason I say this is because pvp players do pve to not just pvp. But if you're like me there's only so much of the same pve stuff you can do over and over again. Plus with the pvp population being dead like trials and even comp, you either face sweats or get potato teammates. Destiny highest peak was 8k we on life support now and the sad thing about it Bungie did it to itself with the delays and lame events.

    • Some people surely feel that way but if PvP was entirely removed next time I logged in, I probably wouldn't notice. I certainly wouldn't miss it. PvP is mediocre at best.

          • PVP has been and is currently in a bad spot! Bungie never gave it the attention it needed or made it so new players could get into it. Hate to say it, but the bulk of the player base never did play PVP. The game lives or dies based on PVE performance. As you said many if not the majority of PVP player also play PVE. They may be like me an not play near as much, but they will play. Where as if you take all the PVE players who DO NOT play PVP, they will leave entirely! If the PVE side goes away, the game does in fact die. That does not necessarily hold true for PVP.

          • PVP is almost unplayable for casual players now. Control is the game they play the most because of the outlier protection, but it looks more like Trials now. Flawless, sweats, and cheaters in almost every game. No casual player will play that -blam!- for too long. Once casuals are gone, the PVP is dead for good

          • PvP was never supposed to be serious in Destiny, but Bungie discovered how important it was between content drops in D1. I cannot BELIEVE they abandoned PvP I'm D2. Not as much as Gambit, but pretty bad. Crucible used to be the best way to wind down with the bros after an intense PvE session of some sort ( Raid, Dungeon, ect). I've only recently come back, I was hoping there would be SOME fun to be had in PvP ---and there has been--- but the servers die for large periods of time. Nearing D1 levels of participation 😭

          • It's only just sweats or potatoes because the game filters you into one or the other. There is little middle ground left. You either lean hard on meta weapons and abilities or you struggle.

            Pvp is already dead, the sandbox is ruined. They killed it when they decided to make it slow and with zero diversity of gameplay. Aka when they added AE, reworked the special economy and created the super tiers, so nobody gets their super in trials lmao. For real, the only supers you see there are at the very end of a match...if a player carried...and if he isnt on a roaming super. Oh and also the reward structure , why bother with pvp, when you can get showered in t5 drops no matter how good you are....even in trials and comp.

People hated it but have the most OP PVe weapons obtainable in PVP ( mountain top, recluse). Some of the best pvp weapons in pve (matador, 1000yrd stare) force the community to intermingle. Again people hated it but it was what was needed. Comp needs a plethora of weapons that are viable. Raid weapons need to be viable for pvp. Unfortunately the problem is the community has gotten so fragile that any type of grind is unacceptable. You have people that haven't played for over a year obsessively on these forums disrupting any actual civil discourse.

            • Im afraid hardcore raiders, speedrunners, and lowmanners are carrying the population atm. But even myself sitting close to 2k raid clears am tiring out, ill come back when raid gear is reprised to t5s, but atm im only coming online for challenges, like praxic time trial, and darkage hunt.

            • PvP is dead. the player count is so down they had to take the one "premium" pvp experience and open it up to everyone. Trials is literally pointless now unless you want some dumb glow for a week. I've had so many streaks ruined by getting teammates with .3-.5 weekly KDs. no point in trying when they make the game this way. so close to uninstalling.

                  I agree, in part. PVP has gone from bad to even worse. I started to play PVP very late in D1 because I mostly like to play single. I've rarely have time to play so I don't have playmates. Both PVP and PVE has been important for Destiny. If either fails the game loose it's footings. As an occasionally PVP-player I found PVP difficult and very random. Sometimes I was matched with equally bad players like me to a stack of well-oiled killer-machines. Is that a good player experience? No. And sometimes I was matched with good players and we met a bunch of bad players like me. I tried to hang on and do my part and managed to take down a few and my team-members took them down over and over again. Well, a win is a win but not a really good experience, either. I liked to meet equally bad players like me so we had a good match and fought on equal terms. Both teams could do mistakes, train and get better and get wins as well as loose a game. I even had 1 very fun match when an opponent jumped around the map like a kangaroo. I started to do the same and it kind of got the be a one-on-one match for us. It was hilarious! After the game we did a quick chat and shared our laughs and wished eachother a good day. That's what PVP should be about, fun, meeting new players. But it got sweatier and sweatier over the years. No fun to play if every match is a sweat-fest where you always stack up against pro's and you loose every game you enter, so I quit. I understand PVE-players are not happy today. The matching has been lousy and less maps etc. But, Destiny has gone south for a couple of years, not only in PVP. It's been very clear that Bungie has not worked well. And that is not surprising with all the layoffs. It takes a toll on a company. We've seen PVE gone south for years, too. More repetitive stuff, smaller maps. The missions have been filled with meaningless mechanics and inbetween missions they've filled it with meaningless stuff needed to do, too. EoF was not recieved very well, and while I think Renegades is a little better then EoF, I think Destiny has lost the "real" Destiny feeling. While a game that lives on for years must evolve, I think Bungie gutted Destiny and took away everything that was good with it, kept the bad stuff, and then implemented horribly bad stuff to fill in the rest. In the beginning of Destinys history I felt enjoyment exploring during the missions. What's around the corner? I could sit down quickly to play for half an hour, doing a mission and some other stuff even, perhaps, and still feeling I achieved something. I got some better loot, raised my light level, and knew I had other fun things awaiting for the next time I would sit down and play. I used to long for playing Destiny. It is not fun for the players today, and it's not fun for Bungie and their employees, either.

                • They needed to put unique and powerful PvE weapons into PvP. Giving everyone everything from doing solo ops ruined the game.
