I didn't want to commune with darkness
But Bungie decides our characters decisions and story, not us

Edited by jhermannITJ: 1/15/2026 12:52:44 AMI didn't want to give Osiris the tea. Dumbest **** ever. We let Mithrax, who was once cursed by JUST wearing the finger.... Grind up all the body parts of Nezerac we collected, a recipe given to him by "whispers" in the darkness... there's a cutscene. No red flags there. Bottoms up. Btw, in the lore it said he was already recovering, he wasn't awake yet... but getting better. My one critique of the story sometimes, is I think Bungie has succeeded in fooling a lot of people by virtue of the action being so ridiculously stupid. Like, I think we accepted that moment ... or many did, without questioning it. Shouldn't we ask why? more... ? Why are we giving Osiris this tea. Why are we continuing to invocate the darkness as Savathun's sister laughs at us and Ahsa gets sicker and sicker, until she falls into a darkness coma covered in blight. Why did we exterminate the Amhakara AFTER they had chosen peace. We still don't know. You know who does? Soteria. 👀

I forgot about how weird that was in season of plunder. It's like they changed the story right then.

Edited by jhermannITJ: 1/16/2026 8:19:09 AMIt was always supposed to be subversion. From the beginning.... Or when Luke took over. The Reg it's called... a private library managed and curated by the University of Chicago. They have one of largest special collections in the world. It's the white glove section. I spent a lot of time there myself, I'm sure Smith did too. One work... "Eureka" by Edgar Allan Poe Did you know he was physicist? We know him for his fiction. Once upon a time, lol... someone thought they had proven that our Universe/existence was one of Special Relativity. In Destiny, we call it "Paracausality". It didn't have that name. However, it is true that General Relativity is defined as "casual"/"causality". "Eureka" is a legitimate scientific paper that debunked Special Relativity. "The Flower Game" is what we call it. The Lady in White was there from the beginning. Influenced from Leto. Just Wiki Leto. Cronus. Isis per philosophy, "Determinism".... the "eye"... the statue. That's Isis. There is no LIGHT here. At the most basic psychological level... a tragedy, about the role of "Mothers". The Bible's influence... the Madonna, Gaia... the Tree of Life/ the Tree of Woe... the Tree of Silver Wings. This is why we're going to Chicago. Wouldn't be surprised if we visit a fictional version of the Joseph Regenstein Library. Where it began, where it ends, where... it begins again. A Dark Future. That's my theory. 👀 We're child soldiers. Now confirmed, we're the Eggmen. Figuratively and literally. Here's a quote for yah... about the tragedy that is foundational to this psychological realism, "Hear these whispers from the lips of [a] Queen-Egged God". - Mara Sov The "Tragedy of the Sovs". You seem genuinely engaged. If you only read one lore book, read this one: Marasenna 😇👍💠 [My "Milton" (Paradise Lost) experiment]. - Mara Sov If the Nine are the "Rules"? Who are the "Rulemakers"? Mara said she placed the stones amongst the storm to define her path/ her fate (Season of the Wish). There are 3 Rulemaker's per the lore. The First. The Second (Mara Sov). & The Third. These are the gift bearer's. They accepted the God stream. They took fire from the Gods. The First manifests/becomes the Gardener. The Second is her Disciple. The Third guides the "Knife". We are the "Knife". And Cayde is a God. And Maya helped him achieve his final form using Quicksilver, SiVA... and Soteria. Cayde is alive. He's going to help us end the Endless Night. He's the Man in Red. He's Renegade Cayde... Merc and Assassin for the likes of Calus. He's a child murderer, indirectly... He's Clovis's #1. He's a monster, an animal... Clovis wiped his memory to keep him caged. But then... Sundaresh's research was too important, too vital to his plans... Clovis sends him to keep tabs on Maya, spy on her... kill her if needed. Cayde's memories are no longer being wiped. He falls in love with her. Because of her passion to save life... never knew that, or couldn't remember. She helped him remember. He volunteered for Exo prototype experiments per her goals... many versions of Cayde. Pain... Agony.... Tragedy... HORROR. Oblivion. He rushed towards it, because that's all he's ever known. He guides the Knife. That why he calls us "His favorite"... btw. Cayde was the only person who survived the exo experiments. Because... He's the only human that could. A giftbearer in the void. The God spark inside him. Cursed by it. Maya saved him, changed him. Showed him light where none existed. And he's been trying to save us, ever since.... ****in' it up over and over. That's his curse. "I hope I get it right this time". - Cayde's last message to us. Quicksilver nanites healed our ghost. Cayde just stopped counting at 6. And now our grave is empty. Something has changed. Ready to meet Cayde 7? Quicksilver God-mode Cayde. We already did. So much symbolism in this ****. He's stops counting after failing 6 times... leaving that final moniker... Cayde 7... got to be Seven, for the time... He gets it right. Funny too. Transverse to the biblical trope, on the 7th Cayde... God destroys Hell. Get it 😉. Cayde's the hero of this story. Would you have it any other way? C'mon. Bungie learned this lesson after MS and ironically Joe Staten, removed and replaced before D1 (Luke Smith hired by Jason Jones), fumbled the egg. You don't get rid of Master Chief.

Curious as to why you didn't want to? We call it the Darkness that doesn't mean that's what it is. At this point Darkness just seems to mean 'powers not of the traveller'. If communing implies that we are connecting to a Malevolent force I would agree. But lore wise Stasis and Strand are both powers we have always had within us and our experiences on Europa and Neomuna unlocked them.

Who told us to do it ? Elsie said Darkness eventually corrupts us in all of the timeliness she has lived I'm not going to rehash the darkness isn't evil debate, im just stating I didn't want to do it, but Bungie decided for me

It would have been interesting to give us the option there. I pretty much refused to use prismatic as much as possible during final shape. But prismatic and stasis were kind of tools we could have used momentarily where as Aunor is a person that I don't trust and would rather never interact with again.

Edited by jhermannITJ: 1/16/2026 2:53:30 AMThis is perfect. I got you in checkmate, already. Think about what you just said. Or this word, "Sentient". So, it's all darkness then. 👀 Edit: Let me extrapolate... The Speaker is the low hanging fruit, but that's NOT what I'm talking about. We were told he spoke with the Traveler. After he was killed, we were told that was a lie. Which calls into question the guidance we were given until the end of the Red War. But then... whew 😅, seven years later... The Speaker's Helmet was somehow stolen from Zavala's office. We recovered it in the Pale Heart. When we did it came with lore, that implied the Speaker could hear the Traveler. Not the Traveler. But I wasn't going to talk about the Speaker. Here's me forcing the King to topple over on the board. "Birb".
