Why does Lobby Balancing get intentionally turned on in Trials every season?

The fact it keeps happening means it’s definitely not unintentional. Trials needs every bit of momentum it can get; especially at the start of each season/expansion. This needs to stop happening

  • It sure feels like it. I have reset 30+ times each week since Renegades and ultimately give up. Strange because I was able to go flawless prior, even with such a low population. Oh well. Bungie gon be Bungie.

      • Whether it's an easy fix or not like buddy of mine claims, it's also clearly just as easily ACCIDENTALLY turned on. This is 2 seasons in a row that I know of at least and was most likely a contributing factor if not THE reason why I didn't go flawless at all last season when I played back then (I haven't touched trials since then). On average I wouldn't need to reset my card more than 4-5 times to go flawless back in Heresy and before, yet somehow skyrocketed to almost 40 times with no success? Yeah, I'm writing that off as impossible. If the "SBMM" were actually working in any capacity, 60-70% of the matches wouldn't be 5-0 or 5-1 curb stomps. The only other reasonable explanation would be that it WAS working, but this was right after Solstice Scorched was available when I caused so much havoc I ended in in the top 200-ish players in QP and Trials for some reason took that into account. If they can't get the matchmaking right, then they need to be a lot more forgiving on losses, especially when rewards are so generous now that I'm hearing of people literally throwing matches because they'll get T5s anyway. Alternatively, add conditions to earn extra wins in a match with equal rewards: * Win with a score difference greater than 3 rounds? Extra win * You win and do the best in the match? Extra win. * Anyone on your team leaves at any time even right before the timer for the match ends? Forgiven loss. * Anyone on your team goes negative? Forgiven loss. * Lose with a score difference greater than 3 rounds? Forgiven loss. If they can't get the matchmaking right, then they need to either be a lot more forgiving for losses, or more rewarding on wins to get those people separated into different pools faster.
