Since the Edge of Fate update, I’ve been experiencing severe frame pacing issues in Destiny 2 on PC.
The game reports a rock-solid 170 FPS, but Steam’s FPS graph shows constant dips into the 30–40 FPS range every 3 seconds or so. This results in gameplay that feels like 30–40 FPS — choppy, jittery, and far from smooth.
Before this update, I was running an actual, stable 170 FPS without these dips. This is not an isolated hardware issue:
My drivers are fully updated.
I’ve tested other games — all run perfectly smooth.
I’ve seen the exact same issue reported by players on RTX 5080 + Intel 14900K systems, as well as many other high-end builds.
This is 100% a frame pacing problem introduced with Edge of Fate and tied to Bungie removing Exclusive Fullscreen mode. Borderless Windowed (forced by the update) is clearly not handling frame presentation properly.

Community Evidence:
There’s an active Reddit thread where many others are posting videos and Steam FPS graphs showing the exact same frame dips:

Bungie, please address this ASAP.
The game is unplayable for many of us right now — this is not a minor hitch or FPS drop, it’s a fundamental frame delivery problem affecting smoothness and aiming across the entire game.
Bungie fix this or give us a solution because it's been months and nothing!

Chiming in for both bumping and ranting lol. I feel like going insane since D2 is the only game that has problems this bad. The Haunted Altars, Pale Heart, Neomuna, Kepler (especially the landing zone) and some sections of Renegades just drops down to 50-40 frames or lower. Changing settings only slightly affect the performance loss. This happens in both highest and lowest possible settings on 1080p. I understand the game loses frames when there's action, that's a given, but I'm almost getting the same/similar performance as my broken, overheating laptop with a i7-8750H and a 1050ti. All of the other games I played (both older and newer) had worked flawlessly. D2 is the ONLY game to have this discrepancy. In addition Intel's latest driver updates have added stutters, so that's also fun. Though that might also be shader rebuilding or something, but I'm not holding my breath for it. cpu - amd ryzen 5 5600 gpu - intel arc b580 ram - 8x2 3200mhz dual channel mobo - b550m pro vdh os - windows 10 64-bit
