EoF was 1.1 million on day one down from 1.3 million for tFS. And that's the metric you would use. Not the concurrent pop which require the previous day... because that's how it works, you say that it doesn't... but that's ignorance and bias once again. And a lot of people don't play the days prior to an expansion.... That's how I could skew the metrics, if I was BDF, as you say.
