This is yet another tactic to slow down our progress, remove our options, and hope to keep us further "engaged" by slowing down how fast weove through the rewards pass/gain rewards in general, all to keep us playing longer. That is just beyond toxic. Worse than removing crafting.
Even after slowing our progress to a crawl in EoF with double the light grind, removing crafting and removing vendor Engram focusing (on top of other changes designed to slow us down that are too numerous to list) they just keep thinking up ways to slow down the hamster wheel, probably in the hopes of selling more season pass tier skips. To be clear, they actually didn't replace seasonal challenges, they flat-out removed them.
Now all we have is the same static daily/weekly challenges, and orders. Why? We were obviously moving through the pass way too fast (in their opinion) now they're limiting how much we can do to daily and weekly (not to mention no bounties, which means less XP), no doubt giving less XP too. When will this toxic anti-player sh*t end, Bungie!? This is just yet another effort to pad out their repetitive content by slowing how much we can progress through the rewards system. This is the exact same company that introduced XP gating afterall, this is basically the exact same thing.

1 ReplyEdited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 12/4/2025 9:17:44 AM"Weekly Challenges" gave one freedom of action and time management. That is now removed and binds one to Bungie's timetable. I know so many players who stopped with Destiny 2 because of their weird parameters and obstacles. The current high number of engagements is just temporary and will go dramatically down again if people realize how pettyfogging and punishing the endgame is. Edit: Everything has been more restrictive since "Edge of Fate." Bungie's always looking for new ways to force being ingame on a daily basis. It's enough!

2 RepliesI’m fine with seasonal challenges taken away it was like chores

1 ReplyI’m gonna guess the new Order system is what replaced seasonal weekly challenges and supplements the daily and weekly challenges so we can get more rewards. They are super easy, repeatable, and can reroll them with glimmer. In return you get glimmer, dust and enhancement cores pretty easily. Seems like a fair trade considering your grind to complete the Orders is very short and doesn’t limit you in how you complete them

1 ReplyThey either removed it to slow us down...or their new A.I. dev team doesn't know how to program it in 🤣🤣

Probably why you shouldn’t buy anything from them.

3 RepliesIn the beginning, they throttle our XP gains. Now here we are, same carp different coat of paint. Let's see if this gets traction. If it does I'd loooove to see how they spin it. Bungie is good at weaving blankets of half truths, gas lighting and straight up willful negligence and ignorance.

The "orders" system replaced it, which is essentially worse in every meaningful way. Instead of having Challenges you can "put off" until convenient to do for large chunks of XP, you now have to log in every day to do a list of "orders" that never actually end (they keep getting replaced with new ones). What do those "orders" give you? 10 Bright Dust and a small bit of XP per completion. You won't get the same amount of XP from those as you would a Seasonal Challenge because there's only so many hours in a day, and your Bright Dust rewards also go down for the same reason. Less XP, less Bright Dust, more "forced" daily login time to get all the chores done (because don't forget, there's also Syndicate Primary Contracts that change daily). It's one sick "engagement metrics" joke. Bungie's "gameplay loop" director is just a big fan of Skinner Boxes.

I'll be honest I didn't even notice they were gone, I'm already rank 12 on the pass from just doing the campaign and post activities. I kinda prefer this as the old system was nice to take breaks, except when you'd come back and some challenges are just impossible to do because its tied to iron banner or some pvp mode that just isnt in rotation that week. But as far as getting xp and bright dust, feels a bit faster.
