The current version's design discussion, I hope Bungie can see it.

I'm a game designer. Bungie's recent series of updates are truly terrible. Previously, players were immersed in repeatedly experiencing the randomness of obtaining weapon perks. This uncertainty carried by weapons and equipment gave players anticipation and surprise. Now, it has turned into an endless pursuit of increasing light levels. Although obtaining weapons and equipment becomes extremely easy after the light level is increased, the process experience is extremely bad. Players have to force themselves to play some levels that offer the highest light level gains in the shortest time. When you have to repeat playing a large number of levels that offer no challenge and you already know the rewards you will get before even starting, this boring process and the lack of anticipation and surprise in the rewards have destroyed Destiny 2. Moreover, the designers who should be ashamed have implemented a mechanism where the first level played each day offers an additional random reward, which has created a significant disparity in the number of rewards between the first playthrough and subsequent playthroughs. This will severely dampen players' motivation to repeatedly experience the game. Not only did the designers who should be ashamed use the first-time bonus reward mechanism, but they also added an even more foolish daily exclusive equipment drop bonus. If the drop bonus equipment for today is not something I'm interested in, this will further reduce my motivation to repeatedly experience the game until the drop bonus rotates to something I'm interested in. As a PVP player, I'm now forced to increase my light level every day. After the light level is increased, I open it to get the daily first-time PVP bonus reward, but seeing the drop bonus equipment that I'm not interested in makes me have no interest in playing PVP again. Let's bring up again the current Light level boost setting. First of all, this has transformed the game from a closed loop of shooting to obtain weapons and equipment and then back to shooting to obtain new weapons and equipment for experience feedback into a monotonous cycle of boosting Light levels. Shooting has become a behavior pattern that can be replaced by any combat mechanism. This has turned Destiny 2 from an FPS game into an RPG. This transformation that lacks experience, if it continues for a long time, may lead to serious game fatigue and even player churn. Most importantly, as the Light level cap increases, the gap between new players and old players will rapidly widen, which is extremely unfavorable for new players to enter the game and for the game's team formation and community ecosystem. You might say that Bungie will provide new players with a mechanism to quickly boost their Light levels. But this would mean completely negating the game efforts of old players, especially core old players, who spend a lot of time every day boosting their Light levels. The Light level boost, which accounts for the majority of players' game time and behavior, will face rapid depreciation. It may not be prominent now when the Light level mechanism has just been updated, but how many core players can remain indifferent after their hard work in one version after another has been flattened by the rapid Light level boost mechanism? This direct blow to core users is hidden and fatal to Destiny 2, and it will gradually ferment and become prominent over time. Wake up, Bungie. Previously, each DLC only cautiously increased the Light level cap by a small amount and carefully maintained the weapon Perks of each version. Wasn't that to ensure the value of players' game behaviors and rewards? The current update is completely contrary to the efforts and accumulation of the past few years. I hope the designers of Bungie can see this message and it can be helpful to this game. By the way, these designs have a lot of the habits of NetEase and early Chinese-style online games. However, these flawed design mechanisms were proven to be failures in online game design 10 years ago. It's really frustrating that Bungie is now using them. As a Chinese game designer, I still have to say, don't blindly trust NetEase's designs. NetEase's revenue and scale have made them lose their respect for game design.

Random perks on weapons drop no matter your light.
