Hi,
I'm someone who usually plays Destiny in short bursts and earlier in the Edge of Fate cycle, I would happily go through and do a pinnacle ops solo here or there. I'm finding it pretty impossible to do this now.
The new Dungeon Lairs feel so much harsher than all the other exotic missions and they don't have any matchmaking to make up for it. But it's not from a combat difficulty perspective, it's the lack of revive tokens or checkpointing.
A lot of these dungeons feature jumping puzzles and sequences. One slight error can lead to an instant death. When this happens, you respawn at the very start of the dungeon lair. This feels incredibly harsh compared to how you treat the traversal segments in exotic missions.
This also functionally means you have to restart the whole run due to how strict the timers are for a chance to get decent clear score.
It's made me not want to bother with these dungeon lairs due to how harsh it is to lose an entire run just based on an ill timed interaction. For example, in Hefnd's Vengence, the screeb you used to get motes from will sometimes jump back on itself and send you flying off the edge. That's a death not caused by player error that sends you right back to the start ruining the run.
Sometimes, I just want to casually take my time through a harder bit of content, but having to be precision perfect on just the move to a boss encounter is really anxiety inducing.
I could use LFG but sometimes, I just don't have the time for the set up and wait. I also feel like soloing these without having to do a flawless run should be an option.
I'd really like to see some matchmaking on these, have more checkpoints or more places where you can respawn inbetween combat encounters.
Thanks, hope this feeback makes sense!

I don’t know why they added traversal sections. IMO they should just be the encounter itself.

It’s awful and I’m never touching it again

Yeah, that screeb almost got me one time with its broken ai jump backs. But what really pissed me off was I got past all that to the boss and got the 2000 points for finishing that section, but then died while fighting the boss. It respawed me back at the rally flag point but erased the 2000 points I got from the first part, so even when I finished off the boss, I still only finished with 8000.

The amount of times I died and had to do a full start last week with Hefnd’s vengeance just because of some loose rocks or a rock flying through the air is quite irritating
