I'm playing on windows 10 with steam and changing my game to fullscreen mode no longer works. There is currently no difference between fullscreen and borderless windowed. I see in known issues, there is a reference to the mouse not being locked to the window when using fullscreen mode but that is not the problem, the problem is that fullscreen mode is not actually working as fullscreen mode. The following problems are caused by the issue. Framerate and performance is no longer as smooth, aiming down sights at any target is now choppy, the game is no longer as responsive to my DPI, lighting looks different and more is now much more washed out, and antialiasing isn't as consistent as it was before.
What is the timeline on this fix? I'd rather not play the game at all until this issue is fixed.

This is, still, not fixed. Unbelievable! Fix this already.

2 RepliesFIX:::: FINALLY Prior to edge of fate, exclusive fullscreen automatically forced the correct refresh rate. Post edge of fate, your OS refresh rate controls the game in a windowed state——- I have a feeling this might be the core issue we have written so much about in these forums My computer’s default refresh rate was set to 60. I set it to the highest my monitor had (144) and my game looks better than ever now Go to settings, system, display, ——> under related settings choose advanced display ——->select the correct monitor—— choose a refresh rate Pick the highest one your monitor has available If your refresh rate is low (60) the game will look choppy with the new settings since edge of fate. Don’t need to bring back exclusive fullscreen, just need to change your hertz!!!!

Edited by Reigns: 8/12/2025 3:05:34 PMI think its a gsync issue as well. I had this same issue in Beyond Light DLC.

I'm not really running on an amazing system or anything, but since the EoF update I've been getting lower frames in general, but its most noticeable in my Character menu. No matter how stressed my system used to be by enemies, particle effects, etc, my menu was always a place where my framerate was stable. That's not the case anymore, and I'm sitting on 15 fps in my menu, stuttering trying to equip a different weapon. It's a little refreshing to see people with newer setups are also feeling it, and I'm not crazy.

Can confirm. Framerates drop as low as 20. Going out off and into full screen mode (alt+enter) is a work around. I have not experienced this issue before Edge of Fate.

Hi. Same boat basically. Persistent stutter/hitching after EOF patch. Specially worse in PvP, but also present in PvE. If developers see this would like to ask: is it in any way possible to add bank the full screen exclusive option to the game for those who want to use it? Thanks.

I have been having the same issue, glad to know it isn't just me and FYI bungie my system specs are way above the recommended specs listed also this has happened after the EOF launched. So yes, we would all like this to be fixed ASAP also please give us a timeline!

Yes I noticed that since the update They messed something up I'm getting fps drops all over the place And PvP is even worse stutters and laggy players everywhere

2 RepliesEdited by Cuen264: 7/18/2025 8:53:33 PMThank you so much for putting this out there! I searched all social media channels for a post expressing my feelings on this! This is awful and not acceptable. Exactly as you said, the game feels choppy, not responsive, and somehow looks weird with different lighting (not only in Kepler but in older zones as well). That's why at first I thought they made some graphical improvements that outperformed my hardware, but the system requirements are the same as in the Final Shape, and there is no mention of a major graphical update! Nothing explains the -30 fps difference in Cosmodrome patrol overnight after the patch. Something is clearly wrong with this new fullscreen implementation, and I don't know how this passed testing. Let us be clear, out of everything, Destiny is Destiny because of the snappy gameplay feeling. If it is not there anymore, I won't be either.

1 ReplyThank you for bringing more attention to this

I found this thread after pulling my hair out for a couple hours wondering why I'm suddenly getting very chopping framerates. Anyone looking at a frame graph can clearly see that something is wrong. I was also wondering why the game was no longer automatically switching into HDR, but now I know why. Bungie, PLEASE bring back true fullscreen.

5 RepliesHi there, We'll pass this post along to the developers for further investigation.

11 RepliesIt's kind of mad that this has passed QA. There was obviously a good reason for this change to happen I'm the first place, and the rendering of the screen and performance therein is key to the game playing well. Someone either said, "yeah this is the same as before and the feature change can go to production". Or "Someone tested this and saw that it was broken and ignored it" either way, this sucks guys.

I've been having similar issues. 1080p resolution looks muddy now almost like it's 720p and lines on textures are more noticeable/distracting.

I confirm! This is no good! turn back the full screen or bring this mode to mind. Not that responsiveness at all
