Edge of Fate Accessibility Concerns

Hello Bungie and Destiny 2 Community, First off, I want to express my appreciation for the passion and effort the Bungie team puts into Destiny 2. As a fan of the game, I’ve spent countless hours exploring its universe and engaging with its incredible community. However, I have some concerns about how upcoming changes might affect players with disabilities, and I’d like to share them in the hopes of fostering constructive discussion.Recent posts on X and community discussions have highlighted concerns about accessibility, particularly for players with physical or cognitive disabilities. For example, locking new exotics behind the Legendary campaign or requiring premade fireteams for certain modifiers can create barriers for players -blam!- on accessible content to fully enjoy the game. As someone who values Destiny 2’s inclusivity, I worry these changes might unintentionally exclude players who face challenges with high-difficulty content or coordinating group activities due to disabilities.I understand that balancing challenge and accessibility is complex, especially in a game with such a diverse player base. However, I believe there are opportunities to make Destiny 2 more inclusive without compromising its core experience. Here are a few suggestions based on community feedback and past discussions:Flexible Difficulty Options: Offering alternative paths to earn rewards, such as exotics, through less demanding activities would allow players with motor or coordination challenges to progress. For instance, a solo-friendly version of key content could help those who struggle with group coordination due to social anxiety or communication barriers. Enhanced Accessibility Settings: Expanding options like customizable controls, larger radar sizes, or colorblind modes could greatly benefit players with visual or motor impairments. Community members have previously called for features like voice recognition support or rebindable controls on PC to accommodate physical limitations. Clear Communication on Changes: Transparency about upcoming changes, like disabled items or subclass nerfs, helps players prepare and adapt. For disabled players, sudden changes can be particularly disruptive if they rely on specific builds or tools (e.g., adaptive equipment like Cronus Zen) to play effectively. Announcing these changes earlier could ease the transition. I feel like Bungie is moving on from us. The Destiny 2 community is stronger when everyone feels included, and I believe addressing these concerns could make the game a more welcoming space for all Guardians. I’d love to hear thoughts from both Bungie and fellow players on how we can work together to ensure Destiny 2 remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to continuing this journey in the Destiny universe.Best regards,

  • I don't think new exotics are behind the legendary campaign, I'm pretty sure Cryptarch focusing will still be there. and the modifiers are so that you can make the game harder for better loot, but choosing the difficulty to suit your play style. I think you'll be perfectly fine.
