Watched today's livestream. They were talking about fireteam scaling. Touting that you can be level 2 and play with level 4 friends. Enemies will scale to the fireteam level.
The level 4 players get T4 gear.
The level 2 player gets T2 gear.
My understanding it is that the content will be as difficult or possibly more difficult for the L2 player than the L4 players - and yet the L2 player will get lower level gear from the event.
If doing content that is scaled to T4 then T4 gear should drop for everyone that completed the event together.

1 ReplyThis is why I have hated this system since it was explained. Nothing should be locked behind ur current power level. If u do a gm u should always have the chance for a tier 5, just based on difficulty. This whole grind/system is going to be terrible. U can't get into ultimate activities until power level 500. U can't get to level 500 until after ash and iron. You can start farming ultimate after 3 months of playing and then after u get ur tier 5 God roll u can use it for a month or two before u get reset back to 200, and it won't be as useful as the new stuff. This system is so bad.

So if I’m reading this right, Why TF would I wanna do T4 content just to get T2 loot? “Play with friends and friendship” they said but all it does it make it harder lol

"My understanding it is that the content will be as difficult or possibly more difficult for the L2 player than the L4 players - and yet the L2 player will get lower level gear from the event." OH come-on....that makes no sense whatsoever. They have lost me I don't get whats going on. I'm trying to hang on to this game I love, but there loosing me with these kind of changes.

Hey man do you expect the horse excrement grind to be fair? Hell they are too busy trying to find new ways to make Eververse more profitable than making the game rewarding or even the worst word in modern bungie "fun"!
-
Play how you want to….unless we dictate how!

1 ReplyThe problem is paid for carries. If a guy with tier 1 gear plays with a team of tier 4 and tier armor users, then they shouldn’t just get a ton of tier 5 or 4 gear by getting carried. It’s a annoying system but it’s designed to keep the integrity of the grind, not favor players who make money off carrying people or people who want to skip the entire grind then come to the forums and complain that the new system is too easy and boring

3 RepliesAND YOU'LL LIKE IT!!

24 RepliesYeah, really sucks, what is the point of stepping up if you don't get rewarded?
-
8 RepliesBungie is worried that players will be able to "skip the grind," and since grind is all Bungie thinks Destiny is, that's bad for them.
-
2 RepliesImagine doing the EXACT same thing but getting worse gear…amazing.

25 RepliesEdited by Motorhead England: 7/1/2025 11:53:31 PMThis is again aimed at the small percentage of top tier players and streamers who have a long list of equally skilled friends, and I think it will split clans of average players. Imagine being a level 4 player and trying to get a raid organised with 5 level 2's? Sorry but if I'm running the same raid, I want the same rewards 🤬

If doing content that is scaled to T4 then T4 gear should drop for everyone that completed the event together.
They'll change it to this a month after release when the player count drops.

Feels like a way to gate off power levelling 2nd characters, cause we all love running a campaign 3 times...
-
4 RepliesThey will change this soon enough, just like they'll change the seasonal obsolescence they want to implement. If they don't change it, they'll be out of players before the end of the Edge of Fate / Renegades.

Edited by Zonepatrol: 7/2/2025 7:49:20 PMSo gear is time gated. Upgrades are kill count gated. Tiers are both. Mods for weapons rolls are random. Most upgrades follow that one roll. You need luck of the Irish and be a Sherpa to get a god roll T5. Not certain this meets the dev goal listed in the first paragraph. But that is a Bungle management issue. It does explain why they are ignoring complaints on legacy gear. Higher tier weapons will be very rare so old weapons will be just as viable until T4 and T5 dominate. Once that happens high stat will be nurfed.

1 ReplyI foresee a lot of tears over this tier system.
If doing content that is scaled to T4 then T4 gear should drop for everyone that completed the event together.
Yes. To further the point, why would anyone do "t4" content with "t2" gear.
-
8 RepliesYou get gear drops at your character level...It's the same system we have in place now.

3 RepliesSeems like this has been implemented to counteract carries.

23 RepliesYour 'friends' have to... to unlock it. Why should you get a shortcut? How could it benefit you? Experience... easier to get max grade when applicable for your current tier... the experience to ensure more consistent gains when you are leveled. These are reasons you may play with friends on a higher tier. Or you could level... And there's no weekly lockout, and daily incentives... and faster progress if you juice your challenges to receive max rewards in the tier you're in. Have you played any ARPG. It can go fast, it can go slow... that's on you. Some people will level in days... possibly hrs... some might farm lower tiers because its more efficient... But you'll keep ticking upward with minimal effort towards doing so. If you want to take it slow spending weeks, maybe months. So yeah, shouldn't get boosted at lower tiers.

That would be the honest thing to do.
-
12 RepliesOr you could just work at getting the T4 gear yourself instead of having your friends carry you through high level content. Lmao.
