Love the difficulty of these activitys, but they defiantly could have added more loot/rewards.
Bungie tried making all the content acquirable with low entry points, this was the Revenant episode. Where the exotic mission & all the main quest chain steps were linked together. It was generally disliked and the player population was at its lowest since COO and Jokers wild(gambit season).
Difficulty is part of the secret sauce that is Destiny 2, look at the Salvation's Edge or the new addition of day one dungeon challenges. Making the end game more approachable was a big mistake they hopefully never make again. Finally to all those that think this is an elitist take, the end game can and should be impossibly hard while the on-boarding process can be approachable for new players.

The problem with the difficulty is that Bungie's definition of "difficult" is "let's cap the player, then nerf the player 4 times over, then buff the enemy 8 times over. People want their progress to matter, at least I do. Either players should be able to fully benefit from leveling up, or the enemy should be hit with the same caps we are, difficulty being based solely around modifiers at that rate. However, instead, provided these numbers will actually result in us lasting longer and killing faster, the stat reworks should fix that to a decent extent. After all, especially if we can build up to 200 on multiple, some abilities and exotics are going to actually let us play that "power fantasy" Bungie has said they wanted destiny to be. One such example I've pointed out: Song of Flame. It comes with it's own grenade and melee. * Grenade benefits from Verity's Brow, the discipline stat increases grenade damage by up to 65%, so that's up to 165%. No logical reason to believe they won't stack since Verity wouldn't work otherwise if it wasn't a grenade. * Intellect buffs super damage, so that's up to 45% more damage. * Strength buffs melee, up to 30%. So unless they want to start specially balancing A LOT more due to the stat changes, players, after YEARS, will finally benefit from increasing their stats.

Hence why the example I gave was salvations edge, its not a level cap. Its just plain diffcult with well thought out mechanics. By no means do I want a cop out where the difficulty is just a level difference.
