I honestly haven’t really touched this game since the beginning of May. Been playing other games that I missed out on. Idk. I feel like everything I worked for with my stats is just going down the drain. Now we are resetting power levels. AGAIN. Edit - I already pre-ordered but I’ve been seeing a lot people stating online of how much the new system blows. They just do not like the new system regarding how stats are distributed and used.

  • Cancel your preorder, you can experience all the changes with the update and then decide if it’s worth it. If you just give them money upfront and it sucks, you’re just enabling and validating the bull to Bungie cause you paid for it. If you do like it, you can buy it afterwards.

      • Ive been waiting the whole of D2 for them to bring back No Land because it was one of my favourites in D1 but changing the stats and having to regrind armour stopped me from getting the preorder straight away because farming all that stuff again just puts me off. So I decided to wait this time round and see how it plays out. If the hype for it lasts to weeks 2 and 3 then I’ll get it but if it’s like usual where the hype dies in the 2nd week I think I’m just going to take a break.

      • new xpac is gonna be same or less content, sunset everyhthing we have except exotics that will require some new grinds to catch them up all of the grind systems are expanded to continue through multiple world tiers now, meaning every hamster wheel has been increased dramatically and repetition has been increased dramatically just getting the story nowadays has more and more filler they are taking a blunt anvil approach to trying to get players to grind more, just power creep on everything and 5 world tiers to make your grind nigh endless this thing is the definition of a live service gone bad, dopamine stretched more and more thinly across too many grinds and way too much repetition and they have zero respect for letting you retain the value of the anything you have worked for they only care about manipulating the playerbase for metrics that connect to the cash shop been leaks showing the bungie suits getting mad when an ingame reward looks to cool because it should have been put on the cash shop, the greed is blunt and obvious

          • Based on past experience I'd say no, but will wait and see what drops. Definitely not putting any money on the table before I see how badly they screw it up. And they will. I can see no way this is going to be a hit judging by the stupid changes they've already admitted to. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

If you have to ask others so you can justify your own decision on something, then you've already made up your mind. You're also acting like you haven't already pre-ordered the dlc.

            • I'm not interested in the new system. New weapon system, point and stat distribution new gear system, and new 'menu' to select quests and destinations , not sure what it will be called. You can put lipstick on a pig all you want.. It's still the same pig. Only this time, you cut one of the legs off and replaced it with a wooden peg.

Annnnnnd then we get to re grind the same dungeons, raids, missions all over again, Annnnd we get grind for armor alllll over again just to get back to where we were. This is a joke and obviously Sony wants to End the game

            • I’ll be playing it, new weapon and armor system looks pretty cool, Kepler looks fun and interesting. I like a lot of the changes i see. Overall I’m stoked for it, I just don’t see this sunset everyone is talking about. All our old stuff is going to be perfectly viable, and with most mmos and mmos-lite, every dlc/expansion you get new weapons and gear to aspire for. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of my armor I still use since four years ago, my Titan still uses season of the chosen season pass armor for some builds.

              • This forum, while it has good and very strong criticisms of the game, isn’t representative of the game’s audience in a fashion that’s inclusive of those who’ve quit *and* those who are still playing. If all you care about is people here, that’s one thing— but it’s a very very vocal minority.

But if what I am hearing about some of the newer systems I’m leaning toward no and bracing for taking a year long break from the game (assuming that it’s still extant when/if I return).

                    • I've always pre-ordered from Bungie, starting with the release of Destiny 1. This time though, I'll think I'll wait and see and watch some reviews before I decide. Since Lightfall my personal view is that the game has gotten worse for every release. I respect if others think otherwise. It got higher difficulty, more grinding, things are taking longer and longer time to finish, all the time sinking and uninspiring additions that in my humble view is not fitting a looter shooter. As I say, it is my personal view based on what/how I like to play. Peace.

                      • I’d say maybe. Personally I find grinding tedious. Running the same missions over and over and over again hoping to finally get lucky this time, is a boring slog Also making current adept power the new mid is such a kick in the face. I’m really not interested in having to LFG for every single thing just to get to the middle of the road. Love the game, but I’m not sure where I stand now. I pre-ordered and then cancelled (for the first time ever) after I saw the latest previews. I will definitely give the FTP content a go. But I’m not all that excited about it, and I won’t be buying anything until I see how it plays.

It doesn’t seem like it will be for me. I’m playing the wait and see game, but also have no expectations. The majority of how they facilitated permanent build crafting opportunities from the WQ-TFS era is coming to a halt. It’s already started with the loss of meaningful bad luck protection and targeting agency via crafting. The continued support through additions to subs was amazing. We saw the continued introduction of new aspects, new abilities, new supers, even new subclasses, every expansion/season. Now instead of continuing with that trend, we are seeing temporary destination gimmick abilities instead, with nothing new at all for any subs. How enough people thought that was a good idea, that spending time and resources on temporary instead of new permanent additions to subs was a good idea, is beyond me. A major criticism of the seasonal model became one about temporary throwaway activities. Now we’re seeing that with abilities? Why? Again, who thought that was a good idea? We’re also seeing this “soft sunsetting” of gear as it’s being called. I don’t play games like Diablo largely for that reason. I played Destiny because it DIDN’T do any kind of resets like that. They did a big reset once and it was VERY poorly received. Why do anything even remotely similar again? Temporary buffs for gear that get upgraded with a new temporary resource. I thought we agreed that temporary stuff was a problem? We’re also seeing a system of resetting power each content drop with the necessary material for infusion being reset each time as well. It’s grind for the sake of grind. Again, artificial and not compelling at all. I agree that armor needed something to make drops worth chasing again, but the reason for chasing should be the set bonuses, not because of temporary buffs. The burning to the ground of crafting instead of balancing and expanding upon it in meaningful ways was already a huge red flag for me. Revenant/Heresy is the first time I didn’t complete content that I paid for and that was because the weapon chase became SO rigid and boring again and I lost the ability to earn on demand experimentation. This is the first time I have uninstalled the game and I am passing on EoF as it stands now. The story will probably be cool but the gameplay looks and sounds tedious and uninspired. It’s like they decided to deal with apathy and burnout in the most artificial and least compelling ways imaginable.

                      • If you’re feeling weird about the decisions the new leadership is making or how the franchise appears to be headed - just hold your money &/or cancel your pre-order until a few weeks after EoF has released & you can get reviews. There’s no reason to rush. There’s no reason to start on launch day. There’s no reason to purchase if you’re even slightly worried. You don’t own the studio anything. Holding your purchase until either the company reassures you with confidence or you consume enough trusted reviews that reassure you with confidence is just being a responsible consumer.

                      • I haven’t liked many of the new raids or dungeons in the last couple years. The dungeons especially have drifted into a territory of long and tedious for no reason. That’s why I haven’t pre-ordered. The loot system seems fine, but there are no new activities that I want to use the loot in. That’s my bigger problem. It also seems like a really stupid move to release these dungeons with the old loot system instead of waiting until the new drop. Now we have a lot more irrelevant loot when we could have had more useful stuff to grind later. If the clan I play with seem to enjoy the new stuff, then I’ll buy it. At least long and and tedious can be more fun with friends.

Definitely the first time I'm not pre-ordering. As far as i'm concerned the story has concluded with the fall of the witness. The game has gotten so far away from casual friendly that I'm not able to enjoy content anymore unless I want a hop on and spend hours trying to find a group in LFG. My brother and I used to have fun two-manning the dungeons because we never have a full fire team. This latest dungeon, I don't have time to pay attention to mechanics because all bungie does is flood you with enemies now and then have multiple mechanics that you have to pay attention to while you're clearing the never ending hoard of enemies. Then we have the abundance of cheaters in the game, making up for the major skill gap in the player base and the increased difficulty for the content in the game. I get it that not everybody feels this way, and there are people that are much better than I am at this game. People that are less skilled at this game shouldn't feel punished or feel like bungie doesn't value their time as much as the higher skilled players. The simple "get good" is not constructive feedback.
