How do you keep coming up with new changes people consistently dislike?

Who's manning the ship right now Bungie? How, for real, do you keep coming up with one change after another that consistently pisses off 90% of the game's population? Personally, I've hated every change you have announced. And I know I'm not the only one. I hate armor 3.0. It will pretty much sunset all of my current builds, for all three characters just so you can attempt to squeeze more time out of me than my IRL job does. I hate the Prismatic nerfs. Ever since Prismatic and Exotic Class Items came out, we've yet to receive additions to prismatic and said class items. Just nerfs, over and over and over. I HATE the fact that new, seasonal weapons get a free 10-15% damage bonus just for being new slop while my old godrolls deal less damage. I am NOT buying Edge of Fate, and I will uninstall the game if you go through with any of these godawful changes. All of these need to be scrapped. This is all sunsetting all over again but you're simply too spineless do call it for what it is. We all know Marathon is going to flop. Which is already going to put you in a bad spot with Sony. But if you let Destiny 2 die too, we won't even get to see you fail with Marathon. Get rid of these changes so we can at least see you fail miserably with Marathon and come back begging to the D2 playerbase.

  • People are always going to dislike things; there's no way to appease everyone all the time. And on this forum, people are going to say they dislike most things, whether it's true or not. Apparently, it's what all the "cool kids" are doing.

  • Its genuinely shocking how they have managed for 10 years to always take 1 step forward and 7 steps back. I swear leadership is actively trying to destroy Destiny and the studio. Bless their hearts after 10 yrs of incredible ideas and feedback here on forums they still refuse to listen to people here and only listen to content creators that have pushed for so many ideas that have ruined the game for the larger audience. I feel bad for the employees about to be laid off after Sunset 3.0 Edge Fate DLC fails to meet any positive numbers.

  • When Smith & Noseworthy first left and Green stepped up I was cautiously optimistic. After watching Bungie’s new leadership handle both games they’re trying to launch - Year of Prophecy will be the first time I don’t pre-order and wait for reviews. This studio and the current leadership just doesn’t have my trust or confidence anymore.

    • Just play only the things you want. Bungie adds a lot of stress to things that just kills the game . it's a slow burn but it's taken its toll on the player base. The mechanics in this game is the one thing that needs tuned ,more then anything else. they were never supposed to be stress level 11 . it's just a big turn off to most new players. if your not having fun then why buy there game. if bungie really wants to thrive they need to do a major overhaul to all raids new and old.

    • There are aspects I think I’ll hate - potentially re grinding gear/light to play end game every season- and things i do like - armor 3.0 weapon tiers etc having 5/8 of my gear drops not be instashard is a welcome adjustment but; would rather this be an annual thing not every 6months.

        In some cases I could see it being a matter of not being able to cater to all the people at once. However, with EOF I'm not really sure who they're catering to, The only groups that reasonably will be able to take advantage of everything is the group that play end-game AND puts in A LOT of hours on other stuff too or extremely good solo players who also play a lot and are able to really crank up the difficulty settings. This is like 5 % of the population. That's at least how I've interpreted the updates so far, you cant just be good or play a lot, it has to be the combination of the two.

        • Because they no longer want to "make games we want to play " They now focus on making maximum profits from minimum investment. The trains come in and the trains go out and nothing you can obtain through play can negatively impact the cash shop. Does that clear it up?

          Basically everything about the direction the game was going in has already started changing or will be changing. Aside from making armor something to chase again, everything else feels so artificial and not compelling at all. It feels like it’s become the exact reason I don’t play other live service games like Diablo. I miss Joe. Not a fan of Green’s direction.

        • It's the only way they can keep people playing the game. They haven't been able to come up with any really good content for a while now, so now they're going to just start the gear grind all over again. It's a lot cheaper to just keep people repeating the same thing over and over then it is to come up with new things for people to do. I don't fully blame the developers because I'm sure a lot of them want to do better, but I'm sure a lot of them are getting shot down by the leadership telling them to come up with the easiest/cheapest/quickest solutions to keep people playing. You know the leadership doesn't care anymore. They're just sticking around until they can cash out all their stock options and get all their money from sony.

        • The biggest joke is that it’ll probably be like last time. You delete half your vault (or more) to make space for the new stuff you need (!), get rid of god rolls you’ve spent hours and days grinding for, and at the end, they’re going to revert the 15% change after half a year. Like they did with sunsetting the first time. So, yeah, agreed. Changes are awful. It is entirely unrelatable how anyone could think that any of this is a good idea. I haven’t bought the expansion. It has to end somewhere.

              One of the reasons I stuck with Destiny and don’t play games like Diablo is because it didn’t have any kind of seasonal reset. Now we’re getting something similar to what Diablo has. One of the major criticisms about the seasonal model was that temporary activities was a bad system. Now we’re getting temporary destination gimmick abilities instead of actual new permanent additions to subs like we saw for the last 3+ years. Instead of balancing and expanding upon the meaningful bad luck protection that was crafting they just burned it to the ground. They just keep piling on reasons for me to pass. I was already on the fence because of the abandonment of crafting. They pushed me over the edge with the rest of this stuff.

                    • lol I think your playing the wrong genre of games this is a looter shooter it’s time armour got revamp if you don’t want to grind new gear you can still use old gear this is far from sunsetting last time we had sunsetting we couldn’t infuse power so it made weapons and armour unusable at least u can still use old stuff and infuse.

                      Armor 3.0 is necessary because armor drops are currently worthless. More than half the loot in a looter cannot be worthless. The new stats are interesting enough that I'm happy to regrind new armor after I do the campaign because current armor is still going to be reasonably usable in all content and only significantly outclassed by gear you earn from endgame based on what I've heard so far. Armor set bonuses also give them a way to make new armor worth more than transmog fuel once you have good stat rolls. Weapon tiers are also fine. Tier 5s sound cooler than adepts to me and enhanced barrels, mags, and origin traits probably won't be making much of a difference in potency of legendaries. Current enhanced adepts will be beyond viable. Prismatic nerfs are pretty lame, but honestly won't really do that much to reduce potency of the subclass. I'm going to wait for more balance changes to other subclasses and weapons before casting full judgment. I'm also not a fan of seasonal weapons getting a damage buff. I could get in some activities maybe, but if it's global, that's a decision I don't like.

                      • Prismatic is a gimmick plane and simple...a low effort mash up of the other classes given the drama at Bungie at the time...the theme of prismatic is being a pride month flag (obvious by the colors and terminology and launched with the final shape in pride month) and this year we get shaders to match which is awesome...minus the pay wall...I would've preferred a proper sub class because now they have to balance prismatic every time they mess with other subclasses...If they do make more subclasses they are stuck with overhauling prismatic to add more to it and the results will always be too strong or too weak.. with having so many more options balance will be a nightmare...just like with war mind cells, prismatic escaped it's intended season and now is running rampant and Bungie don't know what to do with it...which is a real shame..I always thought prismatic was going to be a true "flex" class allowing full integration of all classes being more of a system not a class to mix and match...it will take time to do another subclass overhaul we just need to survive until then..and genuinely hope everyone in the community and at Bungie can put the toxic drama aside and work together...
