I truly believe this will be it for the majority of players. Most people play D2 for the experience. The gear system that is being explained will only create even more elitism than currently exists in D2. Streamers have won completely. If the current ultimatum difficulty has shown, adepts and higher tiered weapons and armor will give the elite a constant advantage. When that happens I typically stop playing the game slowly. There's no point trying to overcome that wall.

Edited by ben: 6/12/2025 8:54:00 AMThis game is not hard enough that you need to absolutely min max every single thing on your weapons and get excluded for not doing so. The hardest thing in destiny 2 today is ultimatum dungeons, I have a lot of ultimatum clears and I would have just as many if I had a stock unenhanceable weapons. I just earlier did an ultimatum kell echo with Praedyth's and No hesitation, lets break down all the differences between those guns: Praedyths - - Bait and switch lasts one extra second. I dont use it for boss damage so completely moot. Honestly complete waste of a perk slot I rarely proc it with QB as a heavy. - Kinetic tremors requires one less shot to proc. Again dont use it for boss damage, I use it for ogres, with bolt charge they die before it would matter. - Adept backup mag gives one extra bullet. Again... not using it for damage I never even go through a full mag without reloading. No hesitation - - Enhanced circle of life lasts one extra second up from TEN. Big deal... primary weapon so not doing much damage with it anyway - Enhanced physic lasts 25% longer... again one extra second. Physic is mostly good because it starts your recovery, once it has started for a couple seconds you dont need it to continue. - Not an adept weapon so I get normal old backup mag. Be serious, NONE of these things are going to change the game for you. Now I will say that destiny has reached insane peaks in terms of the depth of buildcrafting and that is something I can see being argued as elitist, because right now theres no reason to use anything other than bolt charge/consecration titan or heallock, all with very very specific builds in literally anything. But that is a different conversation about the information gap in buildcrafting, not about the loot. The loot is fine.

"Normal players" don't usually do anything more difficult than a GM, you don't need fully maxed out weapons to beat a gm, let alone seasonal activities and strikes.

EoF has already shut out this player. As in I have shut the door with a large house rattling slamming!

Streamers make a living milking this game: showing off builds, god rolls, tutos… It pains me to see the company who brought Halo ask for advice from kids who were still wearing diapers when the game came out. -

If you don't play endgame activities, you don't need Tier 5 stuff -
It’s guardian ranks, take 2.

4 Repliesno? normal players will get the tier 3 ( with more time tier 4 since you can overlevel again for the info we have now) with 0 problems, and remember tier 3 is better loot compared to the current adept loot so normal players is getting better loot not worse And can we stop calling normal and casuals players trash players?

Very true. It is true because if you look at this video and you look at the correct time stamp 20 minutes and 50 seconds. You can see what happened they did an activity The Whisper exotic Mission it was supposed to be done within 15 minutes when you complete it in the allowed time you get a letter score. Ex if you score the correct score which was an A score you get the highest tier rewards you can possibly get if you score below an A score like showed in the video it will decrease your tier rewards. Simply means either you have to have a good team or you have to solo the mission if you desire, but with the highest modifiers attached to its same thing applies to teams that you have to activate all the hardest modifiers in order to get the best possible reward. Favorite for no lifers harscore speed runners players most players won't be able to handle it nor understand it. https://youtu.be/KWv3nSm_mEM?si=y3fsiChIlMYkimso 20:50 there's even talk for Early Access that streamer said that the puzzles for the campaign was so complex that they even believe that most players would not be able to handle it because they even got lost that Bungie had to tap on their shoulder just to tell them that you're going too far in the mission that you need to turn around. https://youtu.be/-lEBcOlNjsk?si=U9MzZg0jvuklHbW0 3:50

Yep. The last Houndish video convinced me; I’m done.

6 RepliesWhat is a normal player and why do the majority of complaint posts default to blaming streamers for everything?
-
3 RepliesThey certainly seem intent on alienating the majority of the playerbase… casuals do not like these changes… the elitist addicts do… sadly there are not enough of them to keep game alive
-
I actually agree… Mainly because Bungie won’t explain their Tiered System in-game and default to expectations that players should scour YouTube to learn how their game works.
-
1 ReplyI respectfully disagree.

93 RepliesRight now you basically have to watch streamers content to overcome the hardest content. You can't go into hard content with just any build unless of course you're a Titan. Look at LFG as an example. Titan only is the most popular post if the post asks for a class. Second is Warlock, but not for anything other than a Fireteam needs a well. I think that it's garbage that you need to adopt someone else's build to tackle any content in a game. It's boring. With tiered gear this will only get worse.
-
7 RepliesYeah, that was kind of my concern as well. Despite what the elitist no-lifes on the forums want to believe, casual players DO make up the majority of Destiny's playerbase, or at least they used to when it was at its peak, and depending on how bad the lower tiers of gear are, I'm pretty concerned that it may drive them away from Destiny, or reduce the number of casuals able to join us in endgame content even further. Heck, if being able to put together a decent functioning build at all requires me to grind a ton of hard endgame content, I might not have the motivation for that either, especially if I'm gonna have to do it with a bad build in the beginning.

OP: ✅ I like Destiny. I started out as wingman to my (then) young son, as a T on his a/c around Xmas 2014. Some time later, he went away to school, so I got myself a ps4 and started my Destiny journey. Later, I bounced after the sunset debacle…over to WF, where I had a ‘whale’ of a time! (MR 24 😎) The vibe back then was very different to what it is these days…sadly! 🤔 Back then, we played everything as teams of m8s from all over the world, depending on time zones. Mostly, it was a hoot! Get the blue flambé hairdo, hit the raid, NF, Trials - to see if my little group got to level 3 / 5 or rarely / never to 7! And thence to 😴 That was then. Once I returned to Destiny’s shores, I changed the way I would engage with the game, ie, I’d play the way I want to… I use vanilla builds and do mostly vanilla stuff. I have an empty Friends List - not because I’m antisocial or anything, it’s just that the vibe’s not the same as it was, way back. I still meet many great Guardians out and about. I get to play with some real ninjas in Trials…along with a greater number of the SUS Brigade! 🤫 I’m a really casual ‘Casual’ who enjoys the simple vanilla Destiny stuff…the amazing environments, and shooting stuff! IMHO: despite some rather disparaging remarks towards us ‘Casuals’ - without us, Destiny would not be around today. Nor would the revamped Trials. Fact! 👈 I’m a longtime 0.3% old tortoise who grinds Trials for the odd piece of gear, and any new toys as they become available. I’ve been grinding Trials since way back…I even raffled my only visit to the lighthouse. My vault has nearly all of them! Just imagine how easy that was for a 0.3% old tortoise to do?! 🤔 It wasn’t. The new Trials system is okay. I go to the lighthouse every time now…but get overloaded with shardable stuff because getting a consistent win streak is still above slow reaction times and my arthritic thumbs! 😂 Although, lag / latency and the SUS Brigade are also contributory factors. 👈👈 The argument - ‘why do they (Casuals) need / demand adept toys?’ The answer: they don’t! All we’ve ever wanted was a fair fight against players at / around / slightly above, our own level, eg, Div IV (like me 👻) vs other Div IV players…and NOT stacked ninja stomper squads🤡🤡🤡, who squealed the loudest for Trials never to evolve or change. Some of the a/m 🤡 managed to run a nice little paid carry bizness, too! Well, the Casual element refused to play Trials…and it died not once, but thrice! ❌❌❌ It was a good move on BHQs part to revamp Trials, to what it is currently…, though, Div IV players - like me, can only get the base stuff…and no ships / ghost / sparrows / emblems. 🫤 FWIW: I know the obvious difference between a top player from a SUS player. I’ve had the good fortune to be the carry on a team of 2 + me…and to see these great players go to work on the 3x SUS team is a hoot! 🫠 Top players don’t need the bestest toys to win…they’re that good. A better reward for them is to appear on my oft suggested Wall of Fame…with laurels and emblems to match! The SUS Brigade need to be weeded out. Period. Moving on… There’s a lot of passionate Guardians from all sides of every ‘argument’ on these Forums, and many more who stay in the shadows, or simply stay away. This is a feedback forum…for important feedback for the devs to sift and sort, as required. Wisdom: If you’ve got nothing nice to say, then - say nothing! 👌 Play Nice! Play Fair! Don’t be a Quitter! 🫠 That is all. Ease Springs! 🫡

Regardless of all that, it’s just more stuff you need to grind. They can’t come up with anything anymore. It’s like gilding. Here’s something you have done already but you need to do it again. It’s the laziest way to go forward at this point.
-
1 ReplyGotta keep them whales fed.
-
3 RepliesNo the game needs stuff like this, all the casuals who can’t read/grind can go back to cod/fortnite
-
9 RepliesYou can play at the shallow end of the kiddie pool XD (just kidding) I have not been able to pull off the super hard content myself, while I believe I can pull it off, people at that level, will simply not give you much of a chance, if you don't absolutely steamroll over the ads, they just quit on you, and it's too much work for me, and not very enjoyable. What I am trying to say is, if you are not running with that crowd already, then nothing will change for you.
-
Yeah I’m not really into running SUPER hard PVE content just to get better weapons for PVP...

Edited by Duke: 6/9/2025 5:33:35 PMIt's always fun to me when people just throw out their* opinion of what most people do/want/say.

4 RepliesYou do realize almost all enhanced perks make no discernible difference in gameplay. I HIGHLY doubt an enhanced mag, barrel or origin trait will immediately make all other weapons obsolete. Everyone is being dramatic because the new ultra elite tier 5 weapons have more yellow arrows pointing up than the other guns.
-
6 RepliesClassic grr streamers brainless post. You play harder content to get better rewards to play harder content. If you’re playing strikes and patrol then you don’t need the top tier rewards. This is the same in any game.
-
Destiny hasn't been easier - raids, normal mode can literally be completed with wallmart meta knock offs - grandmasters although tough, you don't need pure meta builds - strikes, self explanatory Edge of fate will be like that and frankly, the highest tier of weapon called adepts currently drop from master raids which most people don't participate in. A tier 5 weapon can drop from custom modifiers making it one of the most custom tuned experiences

How is tiering locking out players? The activities will likely be the same with the only difference being difficulty. Play casually get tier 1-3 loot. Play dedicated get tier 3/4 and no life to get 4/5
