Remember Bungie, there’s a lot more of us out here that are invested in the game too.

Edited by TripleF73: 6/10/2025 11:00:41 PMI’m completely uninterested and thoroughly disappointed in EoF and the Year of Prophecy as a whole. After watching the creators videos and the dead look in their eyes as they obviously try and sell this DLC, I immediately cancelled my preorder. My main reason initially was the nerfs to Prismatic, which quite frankly after years of Bungie nerfing the previous newest thing to make the next newest thing look awesome I knew that more nerfs were in the pipeline and I wasn’t going to like them. Even after walking back the drastic changes to the aspects fragment slots by 1, it still meant hours of me -blam!- about with 43 prismatic builds and changing them to fit the new paradigm. Total disregard for our time. In fact I believe the initial drastic change to the aspect fragment slots being just 1 was cynically deliberate, they never intended the most popular builds to only have just two fragments from 2 aspects. That’s moronic. I believe the original changes Bungie intended are the ones we ended up with, and they gaslit us by saying that it was going to be 1 so we’d accept the changes in a sigh of relief when they pretended to partially roll it back to 2 fragments per aspect. It seems to have worked because the furor over the changes has mostly died down. However I’m still not happy about it. As I looked into the changes I begin to really see the changes as soft sunsetting of our gear. Which I’m not going to explain in detail except to say that if Tier 5 gear has 10-15% damage resistance or damage output this ultimately makes all our gear effectively obsolete. Not immediately but gradually. Again I think this is deliberately designed to dampen down any potential insurrection by the playerbase, as it won’t happen for weeks or months and by that time, you’ll have bought the DLC and you’ll have shiny new gear and Bungie hopes you won’t care so much. Now if you look at the latest TWAB/TWID Bungie even state not to worry and that:- “Your current gear is still very viable in The Edge of Fate and you will surely use it in the near future when beginning the new expansion…” I’ll reiterate:- “Using it in the near future when beginning the new expansion…” They know we’ll be dropping all our old gear, and it’s deliberately designed that way too. Now if it was just armour I’d be “OK, cool. Armor could do with being better and offering more benefits.” But when you come after guns, Bungie, guns I’ve grinded for hours over, especially random rolls these past few months, I’m just going to be mad. Bungie said after sunsetting was rolled back last time that they wanted the time we put into getting our guns to matter. Another piece of corporate bullshit it seems. Now I spent a while going over that explanation of why our gear is going to be obsolete as it’s tied to the season artifact in EoF. However it was a section in MrRoflWaffles video on what he hated about EoF, that made me realise how Bungie are insidiously building our new shiny gilded hamster wheel grind of nothingness. He is worried that after grinding up to 200, then increasing the tiers of our gear as we progress up to 450 in the first three months, we can then start to get our tier 5 gear which then makes our old gear obsolete. Then there is an increase of power up to 550 power in the last three months so we can then get the rest of our new tier 5 gear. Remember though that the 10-15% boosts to our new gear come from the seasonal artifact for being new. Great you say. Well when renegades starts, we get dropped back down to 200, lose all the materials to infuse our gear past 200, and there is a new seasonal artifact which boost new gear. New gear only to be found inside the Renegades DLC. That means that all the previous new gear from EoF is also now obsolete as it no longer gets the new seasonal artifact boost. And now our gilded hamster wheel of grind is complete and Bungie achieves a 6 month cycle of soft sunsetting and we grind forEVAR!!!!!!’ And Bungie has done this because they are creatively bankrupt and almost financially bankrupt. So they’ve taken what they had already gotten ready for new seasons and doubled down on the grind. Well I’m not participating this time and unless you like never ending grind, I’d not bother purchasing this shite. If you do like a never ending grind or you think I’m talking out of my -blam!-, then you do you. I’m good. I’m jumping out of the hamster wheel and off to play MKW and MindsEye.
