After having spent some time on the forum, I am just baffled when I see people trying to defend Bungie and being happy with the new tiering system for both weapons and armors.
Do you really know what it means?! Are you sure really? You can say whatever you want to argue with me but you have to face the facts (and only the facts).
The new tiering system in its current state simply means SUNSETTING the whole Destiny 2 content!!!
After the release of Edge of Fate, who is going to play the current raids, dungeons, gambit activities anymore? The answer is NOBODY!!! Simply because the weapons will only be T3 at best (I think we can even forget to talk about the armors outside for cosmetics).
Bungie has been clear, they want us to delete everything we currently have in the mid-term. And do you know why? They are simply lazy and they want to reduce the overall costs of the IT infrastructure such as databases (with the Vault). Give me a better answer to this question: why do they not add more slots in the vault?
I will repeat it again and again and again until I am heard: I don't mind the new tiering system which will give us something new. But in its current state this is clearly NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL!!
To ensure the smoothest transition to the new tiering system (and make everyone happy without deprecating the whole D2 content), you need to develop a system where you will have the possibility to UPGRADE the current weapons and armors. This system could be done through Banshee-44 or the Forge where you have to farm quests + components to upgrade stuff from T3 to T4/T5.
This is also going to give us the opportunity to invest even more time on your game for us to upgrade our weapons where we've spent hours and hours to grind. Again, this is not acceptable to see T5 weapons dealing more damage than T3 and you need to rethink this.

Excellent post. I’m tired of the usual suspects defending this 💩. Why can’t people see what is in front of their faces. I have made multiple posts and responses about these changes to the game that are half baked or just asinine imho. EoF has only 23.3% of the preorders of TFS. It seems that people aren’t falling for the ol’ Bungie bait and switch this time. Spoiler for proof.
External Sights Emblem for preordering EoF. 394629 https://emblem.report/3992231371 Paracausal Path Emblem for preordering TFS. https://emblem.report/54004492 1690278 So Edge of Fate has less than a quarter of the preorders that TFS had, and TFS was considered a failure. 394629/ 1690278 = 0.233 x 100 = 23.3%.
Very well said, I think there are a few of us that see what is happening the only problem is that the hardcore bungie defence force mobilise on every post that calls out what is happening and spam it with fake news…. 3 of them are particularly insistent at the moment

3 RepliesEdited by THE GRIND IS REAL: 6/7/2025 1:35:54 PMOnly bungie could get mass refunds before a dlc is released 🤣 remember bungies promises of no sunsetting again ? It's pretty remarkable when you think about it bungie is amazing at killing there ips atm and remaining players faith

1 ReplyYou sir summed it up perfectly. I will quit the game if they don't change that right away. I have 5k+ hours. It is like they give us the finger. it's an absolute insult and the worst update that they could have come up with. Sunsetting, Regrinding power level yet again. no new content to speak of. it is pure and utter trash on every level and everyone who is even remotely ok with this is either delusional, not a dedicated player or doesn't have the mental faculties to understand what is coming. I have zero hype and preparing mentally to leave the game. Give newer players what they want hell give it to them for free but leave my stuff alone. And for the love of god do not make me power level regrind the same item over and over again. That there alone made me quit for 6 months because I just couldn't take it anymore. Then again most people are simple people. The outrage over one consecration being taken away (an ability a player did not have to earn but was given to them) is evidence of that. And think about this: Given the content drought that has been going on for the better part of 2 years now at least for me - and I would assume for many other dedicated players - the only reason (literally the only reason) to play the game was to collect your god rolls, use them, have variety and fun. To get there you were even ok doing the same thing 10 times over. And now here we are and with a snap of the finger they started the sunset progress that will take all that away from us. Madness. Disregarding your player's time in that way should be a fireable offense.

1 ReplyI agree. Players have been grinding for many, many years for weapons, armor and crafting patterns. Some have run raids/dungeons/GMs hundreds of times to get a weapon/roll to drop or armor with the right stat distributions. This change wipes all of that out instantly, it is highly disrespectful of all the players that have invested their time in this game. All they needed to do was extend the existing weapon enhancement system that has 3 levels to have 5 levels and make all existing legendary weapons enhanceable, then we could upgrade weapons through the levels using materials and most players would have been happy. As for the armor, I do not see the point as it is not making things simpler for new players. They could have just said "every stat point counts" and left it there and would have been applauded.

3 RepliesPlayer Base: Hey Bungie, we need more vault space. Bungie: Ok, Sunsetting your entire vault collection with next update

32 RepliesEdited by JD: 6/7/2025 7:41:51 PMlol you’re so wrong. All a tier 5 weapon has is a unique shader and enhanced mag and barrel (few stats) compared to our current enhanced weapons literally like no difference. All your current loot will be 100% usable. Stop spreading false BS. All our current armor is comparable to tier 2-3 armor and will be converted all 100% still usable until you’ll want to change stuff out once you start getting tier 4-5. I see no issue with this. You can continue to play the game without ever getting a tiered weapon or armor piece and be just fine. The core game needed a loot refresh. This is a looter with no need to loot armor that’s a problem and they’re fixing it. **** yes I know about the seasonal artifact bonuses that system needs to be scrapped completely****

Edited by Bore: 6/11/2025 11:39:48 PMGear tiers are not sunsetting. It’s just powercreep and not even massive powercreep. You guys complaining about this being sunsetting never explain what part of gear tiers is sunsetting. The small stat buffs and origin trait timer buffs? They’ve been releasing guns with higher and higher stats for years now. It’s part of powercreep.
-
2 RepliesThe difference between this new sunsetting and the previous one is that the old one you literally lost all of your gear. Had to get new armor because they did a revamp and than had to get new weapons because the old ones were capped at certain level. The new one we will still be able to use our old stuff if we want while chasing the shiny stuff. Im gonna wait and see before rushing to any kind of conclusion on this.

2 RepliesSunsetting is a good thing

3 RepliesOnce I heard not every exotic isn’t going to be a tiered weapon and they’ll slowly bring in more is when I realized what was happening lol

Edited by Roach: 6/8/2025 7:40:49 AMGreat post. Fully agree. But this Game Director has, since he took over, been pushing the game into more and more difficulty and making power feel less relevant. Remember the exotic class items ?? .. how hyped we were only to find out that it was behind yet another mechanic heavy mission. The drive seems to be towards getting people into Raids and Dungeons, hello Rite of the Nine, and those players will grind to get the highest gear because you can guarantee that content will need it. For the rest of us these changes are just grind turned up to eleven. For me, I am not wanting to grind that much. Dropping back to 200 for Renegades is just a step too far. I don't have the time for that, and even if I did I don't want to. Bungie are creatively bankrupt. I watched a video of the first mission of the new DLC and it's more of the same. Go here, do this, NPC witters on. All these changes are just to reinvent the wheel and improve playtime by ramping up the grind. Not getting good vibes about this new direction.

1 ReplyI mean, yeah. It’s obviously a soft sunset to keep you guys on the hamster wheel.
-
2 RepliesI know exactly what it means , and I am fully on board , they sunset the right way, we can still use our old crap we have used for years, or we can scrap it all and go after the shiny new stuff, the choice is in our hands this time The game needs a refresh, people are still using armor they got when 30th anniversary launched, people don't want to hear it but there is a reason why most games do seasonal wipes It's still expecting something new out of a car you have drove for 20 years, but atleast its something

1 ReplyBungo cater to streamer clowns. That’s been evident for a while now. If you don’t see it, well, you are their targeted audience 👍

1 Replylol kinda wish I hadn’t preordered now

3 RepliesQuestion 1: How do you manage your loot in the current live game? Question 2: How will that change in Edge of Fate with the new weapons and armor? I’ll go first… 1: I compare weapons to their elemental affinity and archetype with the ones I have already(eg. Sightline Survey to other Sightline’s or Posterity’s). If the new one is even more of a god roll (going from a 3/5 to a 4/5) than what I had before, I keep it and delete what I had before. If not, I delete the new drop. I don’t grind. I don’t farm. I just play the game and what drops, drops. If my armor is a 65 with 2 mobility (Warlock main so I prefer to have high resilience and recovery) I keep (Exotics are treated the same as weapons. If a new drop has a higher stat roll with 2 Mobility, I keep the new and delete the old). Occasionally I’d use D2ArmorPicker to find combinations with current hot exotics using what’s stored. Anything legendary that’s not been full maxed out after a season is deleted as I clearly have no use for it. Then the cycle continues. The important question… 2: NOT A -blam!- THING WILL CHANGE!!! I’ll let you draw your own conclusions regarding this sunsetting debate.
-
No, Bungie needs to upgrade everything we have to “Tier 5” “We all know your plan Bungie”…You sunset everything we have, as a way to make us have to play all the same missions, raids, quests. dungeons, ect, Only to increase playtime per customer to boost your stats. Not enough new content that would give the same hours per customer per day based on your number crunchers calculations. So tired of these tactics and being treated so poorly
-
2 RepliesThe fact that many don't get it and change in demands loot vs narrative story, means that the overall community focus is on anything but complete story arc and the prestige of what we have accomplished. From our cheapened titles to the "rare god-rolls" and rare emblems that we earned. Now most of the current community want to treat Destiny as any other "looter-shooter.. Now, it's just another game made by a corporation and we're just customers. "We're not that kind of company."~PP
-
Whether it's all true, all false or somewhere in between, the fact that value must be perceived by the customer. This is key to spending IMO. It won't matter if i's a lemon or a tangerine....it's the customer's perceived value that decides a purchase. I'm keeping my money at this stage as I can't see myself getting reset every episode, having my time grinding in the past devalued to zero given the current state of cheating in PvP. Why spend the money when I can play for free? So what if there's new content? The standards set by P2P & Pricing Models (hello Ever Verse) turn the paying player away from the game and studio. You're being open about the DLC, and that's awesome! But you're also debasing the remaining veterans' time and effort. This is my perception. Distorted or otherwise.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Insane956: 6/8/2025 4:08:36 PMYou would think you learned by now that Bungo doesn't give a -blam!- about any of you. Come on guys get over it or move on.
-
I guess I’m hoping raids will be able to drop T5 gear, or maybe we will be able to upgrade gear to T5? I agree that if we can’t then it’s kind of lame to leave everything behind like that
-
l might of pre ordered if they left the game alone and added 10 new GM's . with options to play any of them all the time from day 1. it's the only thing keeping me around. the rest is just bloat.
-
I think Bungie realized they needed a Destiny three but wanted to do it as cheap and quick as possible. So instead of making a D3 this was their solution, SUNSET everything we have been working on for years and come up with a new system to make us all start over. This story should have been the start of a D3 but they didnt want to start over from scratch

2 RepliesEdited by glitchHiker: 6/7/2025 9:36:56 PMExplain exactly how the tiering system makes our old weapons irrelevant? The only thing the tier 5 weapons give us is more perk options, THAT'S IT. Tier 5 weapons are essentially just adept weapons, which only give +10 to ONE STAT, which is essentially not that big of a difference. Yes, old armor will need to be replaced and will be irrelevant, that's the point. It sucks but it's not like it'll take long to find anothet set you can use for everything. But that's just armor. As far as weapons go, there's basically zero difference other than more perk options. So explain to the class how this new tier system makes our old god rolls irrelevant? Provide actual evidence, like a quote from a TWID or other news story, not just your own immature impression of what's been announced. Until you can do that, your entire "argument" is just another childish rant and a waste of time. You, and the rest of the mouth breathers on this forum, are freaking out about nothing. Grow up.

i'm done with this game definitely, i got more important things to do than spending another 500-1k hours to regrind meaningless gear for meaningless activities
