We got away from this because people didn’t like it. On edge of fate you are bringing it back but worse. Power level grinding isn’t fun. When people have to work for a living they don’t want to come home and grind levels. They want to come home and grind meaningful loot like the tier 5 stuff. Just seems like a system that should have went away imo.

If power gave you an advantage, people wouldn't mind grinding levels, like you have to do every game just about now, it gives you a sense of progression, like your accomplishing something People didn't complain in D1, because you can overlevel content, and make it drastically easier, people had jobs then also, but didn't complain People don't like it in D2, because activities are fixed at certain power level disadvantage, so it's meaningless Without power levels, the content then depends entirely on the loot, putting pressure on Bungie to infinitely increase power creep to keep activities desirable, but if there are light level increases, people will run content even if the loot isn't interesting , like Trials and Nightfall isn't right now
