Worst experience in gaming & I've played a hell of a lot of online shooters.
I've only played 7-8 games but it's never been like this before, so many basic issues & so much cheese & skulduggery that I can see why it is like it is.
Almost every single player I see is a hunter, handcannon & shotgun, seal like gilded flawless or unbroken, there's almost 0 variation in opponent - so no surprise to see 8 handcannons & 5 shotguns in the top 15 used guns. Can't find class stats but personally I'm only seeing hunters usually using crimils.
These players also never miss, always instant headshots, & I'd say around 40% are level 5 free to play players which leads into my next point. The bobbing up & down when shooting, which I'm told was fixed, really isn't. You see this in cod occasionally, but this weekend at least half the people I'm playing do this, all whilst hitting crisp headshots. Not saying they're cheating but they've found a way around whatever the fix was. Is it really that important, in a free to play game with a tiny player base & zero flex or incentive attached? Looks weird.
Population & desync, being on Xbox it's unbearable as my lobbies are usually at least 10 psn players & the desync is very very real. This goes both ways as I've played on both sides but on PSN I see 1 Xbox game per game, on Xbox I see 10 PSN & it's a terrible experience. This has been ignored by bungie for 4 years & was the prime reason I stopped playing crucible much about 3 years ago. No region filter, seeing 4 continents in 1 lobby is crazy, & it's not population solely, it's been like this since 2014 - bungies ideal of wanting the world to play together (this was used in bungies reasoning to fight against pc going on battlenet saying region lock servers would hurt friendships) in reality it destroys experiences by giving people triple digits ping!
Lobby balancing is actually toxic. Most games have 1 having a 90% win chance, most games have the best 6 players on the same team, losing every game is not fun in any aspect especially when most games arent even remotely close. This has to be intentional because even having zero algorithm wouldnt consistently do this - I've topped my team a few times & I'm terrible & barely play as is, which shows how poor my team were.
To boil it all down there's not 1 redeeming factor, a tiny jaded playerbase of skillfull veterans beating down on whatever casual dares to play a mode bungie sends them to, happily shooting each other until then with the same losdouts for no incentive. Bad connections, bad matchmaking, bad loot, & loss after loss after loss. Most of this falls on bungies neglect & the age of the game, but that's me done with crucible for good, it's simply not worth clicking the node. Really sad part is pve is going the same way & that's what really hurts :(
