It's time to start letting us toggle off/turn down excessive vfx like other games do.

In some parts of the game, it's getting out of hand. To preface, I solo flawless'd GotD closer to the time around when it came out. Going back in there now, I had forgotten how awful it feels to play. Not due to the mechanics or difficulty, I'm fine with those. But because of the excessive visuals all over the dungeon. The boss room being the worst. If you're just walking around and trying to get a casual cinematic experience, sure, they're nice. But in the boss room area, it seems like bloom is cranked up, there's a random haze in the room obscuring vision, there's also a suspicious constant overlay/filter on top of the visor with a constant spatter of "sweat" or dirt or something, and every time you proc restoration, you're essentially flash banged, meanwhile random areas are way too dark or have too much bloom. Those things are just ridiculous when you're trying to focus, and I believe are subconsciously making people more frustrated with the dungeon without realizing it. Make fun of me all you want. Go for it. But over the years I've found tons of threads of people complaining about the excessive vfx and being unable to turn off or turn down anything. I've been steadily saving up a collection of screenshots showcasing how ridiculous it gets at times. Even using a glaive like vexcalibur is essentially a guessing game more than half the time of what's going on in front of you due to everything being so obscured. So many other games have had toggles for turing down these things going back 20 years now. Why can't we get these options already? Even Warframe once was an absolute mess of vfx on the screen, then they added options to turn off nearly all of it if you want. People who wouldn't play it before came back just due to those options being added. Not to mention, this is also an accessibility issue for many people.

  • Bungie's developers aren't good enough to manage something like this. it took them 10 years to add in-game loadouts and it will be 15 years before we get in-game storage that's better than 1990s games.
