probably would've been more profitable. if sony has any sort of intuition management has to go.

1 ReplyYou mean follow Amazon’s example and reinvest all it’s profits back into the company that’s making the profit to begin with? How’s that working for Amazon? Oh, it’s a success? Surprise!
-
crucible will always be horrible and is just a sink of resources no better than it going to marathon, if those resources were invested in pve content and quality control this game would be amazing
-
Hindsight.
-
They’re “listening,” and they’re “sorry.”
-
They could have invested in both heavily with the money and manpower used for marathon but here we are. Destiny has been neglected for years because of an extraction shooter and some other canceled projects.
-
Honestly those 6 wasted years on Marathon would've been better spent on Destiny. Marathon is pretty much tainted now and releasing it will be inevitable but it won't make much money and layoffs will be very likely. Could've had a much larger expansion to Destiny 2 or even D3 that could have worked as a massive new starting point that would've reinvigorated the playerbase instead of letting it slowly wither expansion over expansion. Bungie's only solution after years of a poor new player experience is to slam another menu full of other menus into the game, I'm sure that'll work and not confuse people more.

2 RepliesWhen I first learned of Bungie making a game dedicated to PvP, I was incredibly excited for Marathon. I foolishly thought it would solve all the PvP concerns of mine in Destiny 2, which is why I eased off with the complaints regarding D2 PvP. I thought the solution was on the way. But then I discovered it was an extraction shooter and I gave up on PvP. Now I play PvE and have all these raids to try out....sadly, not many people are willing to play with a raid noob like me. :(

1 ReplyIt wasn't just Marathon; there were at least three other games that were in development until recently. That's probably the answer to why Lightfall and Final Shape failed to meet revenue goals: they were expecting Destiny 2 to bring in enough revenue to fund itself and at least 4 other projects, Marathon among them. To my knowledge, there was also Destiny Payback, Gummy Bears, and at least one other. Only Gummy Bears survived and the team transitioned over to Playstation Studios. In short, management broke the company's back by having too many projects in development at once, with only one game to bring in revenue. That's probably why Sony bought Bungie for such a sum (3.6 Billion) in the first place: the executives overpromised well beyond what the company could handle, and Sony was somehow convinced. You could say they felt that trying to "overdeliver" wouldn't be an issue on the business side of things, even though they caution against it for actual game content.
-
The higher ups knew what they were doing.. they spun up as many trash projects as possible to artificially raise the companies price.
-
9 RepliesImagine if Bungie made good content...
-
Wow, Destiny could have been so much bigger, if they at least only had dedicated servers.
-
2 Repliesi herd “Marathon” marketing in trouble with a possible of a Game delayed 😭
-
2 Replieslol pouring 400 mil into destiny pvp …ah stop 🙄😂
-
15 RepliesInvesting in more pve would be far better…
-
Bungie would rather waste couple of hundreds of millions of dollars on Marathon and silly nonsense like gummy bears game (wtf lmao) than investing in Destiny.. they literally wanted the game dead lol

Reality check. Total player numbers are down therefore PVP player numbers are also down. PVP is the side game of D2. PVE is main focus. Just a fact. Not saying that is good or bad. So investing everything in PVP maps and anti-cheating software is not going to make players invest time in PVE or PVP. More players in game would equal more players in PVP. More players equal better lobby balance. Dedicated PVP serves so it can have separate tuning etc et all as has been beaten to death already by many players. I say: Invest that money and development time/resouces in the main aspect of the game, PVE. Over deliver on PVE in a major way multiple expacks in a row. Make the new light story good. Bring the player base back with outstanding story, gun play and loot. Make PVE such a draw that the player numbers come up. This will help both aspects of the game. The game and PVP does not exists without a robust PVE experience. Take the last few expansions, too much focus on politics and social issues and not enough focus on making a fun, engaging and rewarding experience. This drove players away en mass, not good or bad just what happened. You want PVP in a better place, I get it. The whole game is in a terrible place, so PVP is in a bad place as well. I am saying until you fix the main focus of the game you can't fix PVP.

14 RepliesEdited by Meow Fairy: 5/24/2025 1:59:54 PMAdding crucible maps wont suddenly make ton of players come back. Most pvp players i know stopped playing because of the horrible sandbox in pvp. - super tiers (aka "you will see 1 super every 10 trials match") - all fun abilities that ever existed got nuked at some point. (At a point smoke is now considered OP while a few years ago it was just an ability nobody cared about compared to what we used to face and use) - special ammo is so scarce that some weapon type straight up disappeared (snipers/gl/trace riffles) - in air accuracy, removing a lot of skill expression as well as a fun and unique gameplay that was basically only a destiny thing (a fps with good mobility like that is hella rare) - stuck in the same metas for so long. - cheaters runs wild. Nothing is good about current pvp.
-
But instead they abandoned the pvp in the game and as such I figure next year will be their last.
-
At this point it’s looking likely that Sony will have to step in and get heavy handed. Could you imagine how they would react to a second Concorde.
-
Not just maps but actually fixing the game by improving their networking and stuff so that my melees register more than 50% of the time and pellets don’t whiff. Plus promt sandbox changes to deal with outliers and maintain a fun and dynamic gameplay instead of this crap we have right now.
-
Sadly it needed to happen. Sounds like all the bad apples moved over to marathon and now Sony will have to get involved and cull these people out
-
Gun game mode with exotics would go crazy
-
4 RepliesPete Parsons: would never happen. Our political views and money laundering through the “Foundation” are clearly more important than this.
-
3 RepliesWould awesome but the car guy had used the money to buy more cars
-
You may as well imagine because it is definitely not going to happen 🤣

Edited by JocyBossy: 5/25/2025 9:30:07 AMOr how about the portion that keeps the lights on -- PvE?
