Hi everyone! I felt like posting something about patrol but I haven't had any Patrol ideas for a forum post that seem substantial enough. The last big idea I had was 9 months ago. So I am reposting it, as an "In Case You Missed It" type of post.
Whether you are a new or frequent forum user, I will appreciate the time you take to check out the information I gathered in the Dreaming City!

Hello everyone. Today I wanted to share some recent discoveries I have made on the Dreaming City regarding the glowing butterflies that can be found there. They can be seen in the image attached to this post. There are three different colored butterflies. Yellow, Blue, and Pink
If you haven’t noticed these before, you’re not alone. I only recently found out about these.
Which is funny because I’ve patrolled the Garden of Esilia many times. Which is where a lot of them can be found.
There are a total of 14 spawn locations for these butterflies in the Garden of Esilia. (Actually 13 but I'm counting the spawn by the entrance to the Garden in the Strand as one)
After I found these, I searched other parts of the dreaming city. I was surprised to find not only a few more spawn locations, but two entirely different butterfly models. As well as two separate colors of butterflies, which are pink and blue.
These butterflies can be found in the Bay of Drowned Wishes, Chamber of Starlight and Aphelion’s rest Lost Sectors; as well as Rheasilvia and Harbinger’s Seclude.
below are screenshots of exactly where they spawn in each area, as well as the color of the butterflies in each respective spawn location:

I’m actually impressed that there are even three different models to begin with. They could have easily just used one and called it a day. But they each have their own unique wing shape, as well as color. And they all have lingering particle effects.
It took me longer than expected to post this because when I went back to double check my findings, I discovered MORE spawn locations and eventually the aforementioned color variants and different wing shapes. At first I thought there was only yellow butterflies. Then I thought the blue and pink ones shared the same wing shapes, only to find out otherwise.
One thing I just realized as I was sitting down to finalize this post was the significance of the choice of colors. Pink, yellow and blue. The art direction in Destiny 2 always assigned each class its own color. The Hunter is blue, the Warlock is yellow and the Titan is red. (Pink can be considered light-red for the sake of this theory)
Could these butterflies represent each of the 3 Guardian classes? Hah, maybe it's just a coincidence.
I decided to draw a rough sketch of all 3 different models in my “Guardian Journal”. I was able to get a decent idea of the shape of their wings. It was difficult to get a good aerial-view screenshot so they're not 100% accurate. I might’ve taken some artistic liberties. They were all drawn digitally.

That’s all the info I have to share, thanks for reading!
Kind regards,
The Patroller
