Why is The Queenbreaker's damage higher than legendary adaptive burst linear fusion rifle? It already has faster charging time. Why is Sleeper Simulant's damage lower than legendary adaptive burst linear fusion rifle? And why does Sleeper Simulant have less ammunition reserves? And most importantly, why is linear fusion rifle stronger than sword? It doesn't make sense, even considering there's a buff of artifacts.

2 RepliesSwords literally aren't meant to be top of the food chain in damage. What could possibly ever give you that impression? Why would a sword ever deal more damage than a giant laser?

1 ReplyEdited by NerfPaladins06: 5/19/2025 6:20:30 AMWhy should a sword do more damage than something specifically meant for assassination (sniping weapons)? Because swords are riskier to use? Bad argument. Swords SHOULD be a weapon made only for killing mini bosses and below. If they want swords to be good vs a specific boss, add sword damage taken modifier to that boss.

1. Exotics are meant to be unique. Good isn’t a requirement. Bungie has found a good rule of thumb, by trying to make the respective exotic both Unique and by extension, good at a specific niche. It’s why weapons like Cryostasia which within their niche, is very good, never receives buffs or nerfs outside of archetypial changes. 2. Metas shift. If you don’t like a specific meta, just suck it up for a time being. It use to be the case that (back in d1 for Axsis) Sleeper was the best for DPS, then it was Vortex Frame Swords, then it was rockets with Cluster Bomb Rockets. Meta changes both with the intelligence of the playerbase, information we are given, and the specific content paired with the utility of the respective weapon.

Sleeper hits for 120k on Carl, the lost sector boss on Nessus I tried a void adaptive burst called doomed petitioner 1st bolts hit for 33k, 2nd for 36k and 3rd for 39k. Edit. Scintillation adept, nightfall strand adaptive burst hit for even less. About 28k for each shot x 3 That s quite a bit less than sleepers 120k Doomed petitioner has precision instrument perk. 2nd edit. I had the artifact mod for fusions and linears active with sleeper and doomed petitioner Without it active sleeper hit for 114k. Doomed petitioner went down to 28k per hit just like scintillation Seeper was still higher than the others even when others had damage perks and artifact mods.

Why is The Queenbreaker's damage higher than legendary adaptive burst linear fusion rifle?
Because it's an exotic, and Exotics are supposed to do more damage And you're a season late, there are no sword buffs this season in the artifact

Queenbreaker is strong because the artifact has particle reconstruction and the gun has rewind rounds, meaning you can basically fire the entire reserves without reloading. Scintillation with rewind rounds and B&S can actually do more total damage than QB but you have to use it in a damage rotation with witherhoard, meaning only one person per fireteam can use it (the stick damage from witherhoard only applies to one source at a time, so if multiple people stick it only does one person worth of damage) so it gets complicated and overall just isnt totally worth it

The history of linears: Queenbreaker deals same amount as a legendary, bungie gives 10% buff and it's still bad, bungie nerfs all linears except queen and sleeper by 10%, bungie gives queen another 10% and give it a chain blind but it's still bad, bungie buffs all linears and queen by 10% and rework the secondary while buffing the chain on single shot. It deals more because at a base it's got like 30% more damage over other linears, has rewind rounds, and has a unique version of controlled burst where it gives you a 333 charge rate on the burst fire if you hit like 3 crits.
