Last expansion, 'The Final Shape + Annual Pass' was priced at 233,900 COP (~55 USD) (source). While the new 'Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition' is priced at 334,900 COP (~79 USD) which is approximately a 43% price increase (source). Other regions have likewise seen massive price increases, and only New Zealand and Taiwan have seen a price decrease of 1% and 2% respectively. This table compares the percental price difference between the two expansions mentioned above for the regions where prices have changed.
I am puzzled by this strategy. Increasing prices by this much across so many regions can only result in less players, not more in the game.
But I am interested to hear what other people believe about this, do you see any upsides (for the players)?
Note: If you are a player in one of the affected regions, I would advise holding off on purchasing this or any future DLC as Bungie tends to give its DLC large price cuts after launch. 'The Final Shape + Annual Pass' currently has a 70% discount in all regions on Steam DB, and given how large these price increases are, your money and time are probably better spent in other games as opposed to the full-price prophecy expansion.

Sounds like they’re bringing prices into better alignment across all of the previously lower priced regions.

17 RepliesEdited by Rice Shower: 5/12/2025 3:31:00 AMDeleted because I was trying to delete my post, but coming back to include the gist of what I originally said: OP's numbers are incorrect by about 20-30% for each game (adding and subtracting percents is difficult). Several regions see a price cut (sometimes more, sometimes less) than the US' 20% if you compare TFS Annual Pass and Year of Prophecy Base Edition, which are the equivalent products. OP has mistakenly compared the Ultimate Edition to the Annual Pass, which did not exist in previous years. *Most* Regions seem to have gotten the price reduction, but there are some outliers (Columbia has gone up around 14%) and that's unexplained. But it is not the universal increase OP depicted.
