Is this Destiny or Disney?
Is anyone else completely turned off by this Star Wars crossover?
I don’t know about you all, but I find the idea of building a whole DLC around a Star Wars sponsorship incredibly disappointing. I’m here to play Destiny not participate in a Disney themed event. Crossovers are one thing when they’re limited to cosmetics or small events, but centering an expansion around another franchise feels like the game is slowly losing its identity.
It’s starting to feel like Destiny is taking a page from Fortnite whoever pays enough gets to shape the game’s direction. And that’s not what made this universe special in the first place. We’ve got decades of rich lore, original characters, and complex storylines. Why are we sidelining all that for another company’s IP?
This just seems like a strange move, and to me, it cheapens the experience. Curious to hear what others think are you excited about this Star Wars content, or do you feel like it’s a step in the wrong direction?

Huge chunk of this community is just ungrateful and instead of playing the game for what it is, they cry about why it isn’t… we could possibly be leaving this solar system & I for one could use a big switch up from light/dark saga that we’ve had for the last 10+ years lol

Crossover, cosmetic, multiverse it doesn’t matter. Bungie leaning so heavily into Star Wars is just a complete cop out. Doing a few sets ok… it makes easy money, adds a little something for the fans even if it breaks immersion in a Destiny world that they’ve spent 10 years building and creating at direction for. Advertising a whole expansion as a “ homage “ to Star Wars like stars wars needs anymore exposure is downright lazy. It also shows how bad off the game is now that they are cash grabbing that hard while also putting original Destiny content second at this point in the games life. Game is basically over come 12/2. It will only get worse.

3 RepliesOk, we need to clear up this “controversy” because the only people arguing this is bad clearly don’t have all the information/understand it.. It is [b]inspired[/b] by Star Wars, IE cosmetics, vibe, tone. All that means is a Star Wars themed rewards pass, and a desert/tatooine themed location. Which is kind of awesome because we’ve never really gotten a desert planet before. The story is described as taking down an “evil empire” to hunt down a new dredgen, which just sounds like a destiny expansion with either hive, cabal, or fallen enemies. And the main reason people are using the Luckasfilm watermark on the bottom of the trailer.. um obviously they put that there because of the collab and because they are using trademarked stuff throughout that whole trailer.. lightsaber, tatooine map, Han Solo blaster. Why does Luckasfilm being mentioned on the bottom immediately make everyone think it’s a full Fortnite style crossover?!

The story of renegades has 0 to do with Star Wars. Just cause we get Han Solo gun and a lightsaber which is awesome imo doesn’t mean we’ll be taking quests from Yoda lmao.

Like Star Wars or not it's influence on this genre, in all aspects of sci-fi films and video games, cannot be denied, nor should it be disrespected. It's a few aspects of aesthetic nature, not like all the gameplay is being converted to Star Wars The Old Republic ... So many posts about Disney this Disney that ... It's simple, don't like it, don't buy it... maybe the next round of collabs with Minecraft or Squidbillies or My Little Pony will suit your tastes more (not saying these are actual potentials, just showing other people may have other tastes you may also not like and would also whine about...) So buit your quitching or it's probably going to get worse like the US economy ... Got Eggs?!

12 RepliesThis is what happens when you green light anything “new” with no thought to consistent or theme. The retcon of the Nine is a good example. Take whatever leftovers there are, despite there being foundational lore about them, and retcon it into something new you can then claim is exciting. The Nine are younger than the Hive technically speaking, they didn’t achieve consciousness until humanity evolved. Whereas the Hive are older than Earth. And I’m supposed to believe they can manipulate time and knew this could be an outcome? If they are going to retcon recycle everything, that’s not hyping me at all. It’s fanfiction.

Yea don't really care and not that hyped for it but if anything they need to do something about improving gameplay that has been stale for too long like 3rd person options, duel pistols and SMGs Star wars inspiration not that hyped about kinda wish they took more inspiration from Metroid,Halo,Aliens,GOW The only thing I hate about D2 is that it became too much of a sci-fi Fantasy then D1 Dark Sci-fi Fantasy in which players liked the Hive,Siva,Vex,Forsaken stories are proof of that
