How can you expect anyone to believe in Marathon when Destiny’s PVP is this much of a joke?
The sandbox is pathetic, it is the least skillful meta I have ever experienced. Nothing matters currently except for your loadout. Are you using RDMs on invis hunter with Redrix/Last Word + fusion/sidearm? Yes? You win the game, congrats. RDMs need to be reverted so that they only give extra dodges, fusions need to be reigned in, redrix is still busted despite 3 nerfs, and special/heavy ammo are way too abundant.
Invis hunters need a complete rework, On The Prowl was a mistake from the start. You can keep people off of revives for free because of the smoke clouds that spawn on kill, you have infinite invisibility if you chain your dodge and run through the clouds, and why in the world does is give 3 fragment slots? The white/clear color of invisibility is *impossible* to see against so many backgrounds and you already can’t see invis players on radar.
Matchmaking: Who’s idea was it to allow solo queues to match 3 stacks in comp/trials??? By the way, loss protection still isn’t working for that. But if it was, what solo queue wants to match a 3 stack? Who cares about the loss protection? It’s almost always a free win for the 3 stack and a complete waste of time for the solo queues. Also, the lobby balancing continues to be abysmal. Control is a mercy-fest and comp feels similar, it’s obvious from the first minute of the game which team is going to win.
Control feels like 6s comp, painfully unenjoyable. I laugh whenever I remember a TWID saying that control should feel like a game of pickup basketball. People play control like it’s game 7 of the NBA finals. SBMM DOES NOT WORK WITH LOW POPULATIONS.
Comp is just meta-crutch or lose, thank you sandbox team!
Trials rework was wasted on stale loot, bad maps, and the horrible sandbox. Disjunction, but no Javelin? Come on… Waiting until May 6th to release Inquisitor? Come on… Also, why is there SBMM when farming a card. Being *forced* to farm a 7-win card sucks to begin with, and the SBMM just makes it unbearable. Yes you can do carries to avoid the sbmm pool, but being capable of a 7–win streak doesn’t automatically mean someone is capable of carries (or wants to do them).
I probably didn’t get everything, but BOY. OH. BOY. is PVP just an absolute mess. I’m sure Bungie “is listening” though.

im just wondering what happened in the last 2 or 3 weeks, i went from doing well, actually going flawless solo a few times, having general fun. to suddenly unable to pass 4 wins in trials, and getting stomped in control casual mode. like...im sorry?... why am i suddenly bottom of the board?..i used to be mid-top of the leaderboard, and now im barely breaking 14 kills a game if im lucky?... what the heck happened?
-
Always has been.

The art style for marathon is great, would have loved to see all this effort be placed in the right direction but the fact that bungie went with "Let's make Concord 2" instead is just wild. And the fact that even they themselves know it's gotten horrible feedback and thinking lifting the NDA would do anything is just straight-up pathetic coming from Bungie, a literally vanguard of gaming. This is like seeing your childhood hero screaming in the streets in their pee soaked underwear about how the microwaves are listening to thier thoughts
-
So don't play it. Bungie is not going to fix PvP, so why keep smashing your head into the wall of their incompetence?
-
I have to agree on most points here. I'll add; Spectral is way too strong... it has got to have the highest damage resist and it lasts forever, plus you can go invisible. Speaking of invis, between the smokes and invis how does anyone compete in 3s? Oh yea, use last word or redrix. Or... use that stupid Warlock slide melee that takes no damage from a barricade and can get multiple kills while healing you somehow... like who thought this was a good idea? Might as well bring back the old school shoulder charge, but give it damage resist vs a baracade lol. Also, why is bubble still a super? What does that thing even offer anymore?

Edited by TACO_Adept: 4/20/2025 4:29:13 AMAfter playing mostly PVE, I've played a bit more than Iron Banner this last year and I've actually come to like playing it, but it's a total mess. Every now and then you hit all your shots and the games are even and great. But the next day you get hit through walls, lag abounds and cheats are everywhere. It's like laying Russian Roulette. I know why people reminisce about the old days because todays Crucible is an absolute embarrassment. As a side note, I can't see how anyone in their right mind could trust Marathon to be decent based on their track record here.

Finally you guys are waking up to this bs. I’ve been saying this for years now. I’m a pvp main I live inside crucible. 6v6 quickplay is a complete sweat fest if you are in my skill level. REMOVE SBMM FROM QUICKPLAY!!! Trials is more chill but I have all the adepts with god rolls. So no reason for me to play destiny pvp at all. Sbmm quickplay is so dumb and trials I already have everything from there and there still some bs in trials like forced losses and wins. REMOVE SBMMM FFS!!!!!
-
I’m not enjoying it much either. I’m just mostly playing pms and maybe a little trials if the gun is good but even then I don’t care too much.
-
Invis on its own isn’t that much of an issue, I’ve never understood why people get so bent out of shape about it. The smoke stopping revives is very annoying, if the rest of the class wasn’t so strong, I’d say it was a cool ability to have from a tactical POV. Fusions are over performing and the issue is exacerbated by void hunter. Sidearms are fine, even if they have a fast TTK, they have a limited range. RDMs are pretty OP but only when paired with certain weapons. My point is that, nothing you’ve pointed out is an issue in isolation, just the fact that you can have nearly all of them going on at the same time. My biggest gripe with the meta currently is just how good Pulses are.

Edited by S I L E N C E: 4/21/2025 10:40:54 AM
RDMs need to be reverted so that they only give extra dodges
Hunter is the problem....RDM's + Strand suspend dive made me quit PvP. (literally they can spam it as much as they want and its a free kill) RDM's + invis + Strand hunters & lobbies consistently full of hunter mains/sweats....Its just not fun anymore. Maps are way too small and consistently getting spawn TRAPPED & spawn KILLED. Its unplayable It needs to go to 5v5 or 4v4 at this point since the maps are DESIGNED for that.(With literally no maps made for 6v6 except for disjunction lol) & the movement in this game is too fast for spawning to even keep up with 12 people.. I've moved on, The Finals is better, free to play, and the studio actively & openly cares about their playerbase.....makes a big difference just saying.

I dont think they have the team or budget to do nearly as much as they used to do for this game, keeps feeling like the end is closer and closer. I dont want it to be the case, but Marathons debut didn't inspire confidence.

Your matches are always somewhere between 70-80% win loss chance rather than 50/50. Skill matchmaking left a long time ago.

5 RepliesUnfortunately it's not bungie, it's population. Players are not a fan of destiny pvp matchmaking, nobody is enjoying this, from gjake to my old slow -blam!-. I think destiny pvp is over.

3 RepliesWait... Sidearms are a problem now?

3 RepliesEdited by FrenetiCreature: 4/21/2025 4:55:11 AMCan I just ask, how do people slide forward and then backwards really fast? I keep seeing people do this in crucible, where they slide forward, and then it's like they went too far, and are trying correct it by then sliding backwards, at lightning speed. All while being able to nail me with headshots. What is this wizardry? Edit: Also, can someone help me understand this - (I'll post a pic above) But, I have an 85% headshot rate with my Belisarius-D. I feel like that's pretty good, right? Is my thinking wrong here? And I know it can two-burst for sure. It has one of the quickest base ttk's in the game, at 0.73, but it seems like I'm just getting outgunned by everything. I know I can't expect to win every single gun-fight, but I try to always post-up with cover before a gunfight, and I strafe and peek shot with it, but even with an 85% headshot rate, I just cannot seem to outgun or get many kills. I can't believe the survivability of my opponents, when using something with that fast of a ttk, and what I feel like is at least decent accuracy. It also feels like all of my opponents have 100% headshot rates against me. If my teammate and I are both taking turns peek-shooting from cover, like he goes, then I go, then he goes, then I go. It feels like I almost always get insta-killed the moment I peek, but it's like the opponents just can't hit my teammates. WTH?! Idk... I just don't get it

1 ReplyEdited by Hot Tasty Grits: 4/20/2025 5:41:45 AMThe main problem is that there is not an original -blam!- out there . Most of the players have the exact same builds and they think they are impressing someone. Take off RDM /Void / Last word/ or Redrix and let’s see how you hold up .
-
Because Destiny 2 is a PvE game with a PvP side mode that isn't the main focus and it doesn't get frequent and dedicated tuning updates, streams, and map content. I don't know why no one can seem to grasp this concept and then rule out a game that will have exactly the attention to balance they would want in a game built from the ground up as a PvP shooter.

1 ReplyEdited by Leopard: 4/21/2025 2:41:57 AMYou smell loser You suck get gud loser Bungie has forums to laugh at us not help us

1 ReplyWhat they should do is 1. Make it so that when you go invisible you are a oneshot kill, makes you choose wisely between going off radar and getting killed 2. Have a couple of exotics on warlock and titan that allow you to see invis hunters 3. Make the tier cooldowns equal. The uptime of being able to dodge is too high compared with shiels and rift cooldowns

3 RepliesEdited by aequus: 4/20/2025 1:38:06 AMbecause they never intended to make d2 pvp competitive and perfectly balanced. This has always been the problem with the D2 PvP community myself included at times, we expect it to be something it can never be in this game without being complete trash see D2 vanilla. Marathon will have different philosophies
-
It is, but not because of RDM or Redrix, or Exhalted truth… but because of lag and cheat and cheaters using lag. It’s obvious when the ttk of your gun suddenly triple from one match to the next and you’re shooting rubber bullet. Ennemies appears from nowhere and one tap you with anything. But it’s ok It’s just a game, even Bungie does not take it seriously.
-
Love to know the same. How will the deal with the rampant cheating? They won't. They'll keep promoting it, without a care in the world.

Edited by reykon2000: 4/20/2025 1:50:46 PMThere is nothing like a pvp strike team, it's a joke....if there is one, they are definitily not playing PvP....

Ya well im getting the go slow bullsht. Yup last match i had to run with the heavy because i was faster that a rapid fire pulse riffle. This game is beyond broken
