Idk, I just have an extreme suspicion that the Edge of Fate expansion is practically going to be the next Lightfall

Lightfall sold well, it just left a really bad taste and drove many away. EoF is already a flop. Previous DLC pre-orders were all at least 1 million. This less than half that. Didn't break 100k peak players on Steam. It's Friday evening and it still couldn't do it. Bungie is toast.

If you take the armor and weapon changes out of the conversation ya there ain't much. Some little area called Kepler and a target range. Now the target range on video looks great and even has Carl and champions so that is really cool. Now that Kepler area is the whole Edge of Fate "new place" not sure how big or what the game play is but going around like a little sparkle ball of arc l must say looks a little lame. IDK we'll have to play to see what its like. I sure as heck aint going to give you $80 dollars for that.

Even if it is decent, the grind changes are going to be hated by a lot of players and there isn't going to be enough content. I'm done paying $100 a year for so little meaningful content... and half or more of that is recycled somehow.
-
100% going to be a flop, i just don't see a point in doing the same thing again and again for another year, i'm also not interested in the story after killing the witness, they're just milking the IP with as minimal effort as possible
-
lightfall is overhated, edge of fate can be a mid dlc . after all the quality of the content is not the problem atm, the core changes to armors, difficulty option, and the most important the tier system is what bungie needs to do near perfect

4 RepliesAnd watch after the reveal, people lose their minds. As usual. I won't fall for it again. Not this time.

Bungie are too greedy
-
As long as it doesn’t get the same treatment Marathon is…poor wee bugger. It didn’t ask to be born of Bungie’s mismanagement and development resources stolen from D2.

1 ReplyEdited by Candy: 4/20/2025 2:43:30 PMI wanna know what a flop means in Destiny these days Because really Lightfall and Final Shape were both flops as well when it came to long term retention. They both had players on for a few weeks though. My clan hasn’t been as active in years as when Heresy dropped. Lasted a few weeks. Destiny is released as a drip fed game. Meant to force players back. I have no doubt Edge will get players for the first 2-3 weeks then the entire raid LFG will be dead for 3 months

4 RepliesI think it'll be fine actually. The ending of heresy had to happen and now we have two different enemies with some lore and ties. Savathun is now our enemy once again and Xivu can get her own dlc/chapters if they build her up correctly. The new threat which is probably a nine member will probably be introduced and built up slowly as they gain power. The other members are now potentially 4/4 or who knows of the 9th was on one side more than the other. Bungie has to cook and heresy did things the right way except for the voice acting sag thing. I'm ready for this delicious meal.

19 RepliesIf it flops that might mean no more dlcs Sony won't keep supporting something that can't make a good profit.
-
especially if Prismatic doesn't get more added(1 super & aspect from each element) or a new dark subclass.
-
1 ReplyYou must be great at parties.

6 RepliesIf it’s about LightFall it’s definitely going to flop. Even if they bring the Nine in, they’ll just ruin it. That’s their MO lately anyways. Heresy is okay, but they still think we care about relationships and s**t 🤦♂️ that’s what they get though for firing their original lore writer and instead hired a putz.

2 RepliesI haven’t been excited for a destiny dlc probably since destiny 2. If they remove sbmm I would pre order
-
Is Edge of Fate a DLC? I thought it was all free or cheap content going forward
-
8 RepliesWatch the reveal on 6th May. Don't pre-order. Wait for actual player reviews. Then decide if it's for you.
-
2 RepliesBased on what?
-
Better off making an open world procedural generated Halo
-
1 ReplyUh oh. Pack it up everyone, a rando on the internet said it's gonna flop. Stop what you're doing and go home.
-
the dlc can be mid like lightfall or beyond light, what bungie needs to get right are the changes to the loot and difficulty options
-
I'm just getting sick of them dangling characters in our faces that we haven't seen in a while as a bait to get players hooked. They did it with Forsaken (Petra and Uldren), Beyond Light (Exo Stranger and Variks), Final Shape (Cayde) and now they're doing it again with the Nine and Edge.
-
Well if they throw it at a trampoline hard enough it may bounce a couple times at least...
-
Since it’s going to be a mini expansion, I don’t see how they’ll spent enough time on a nebulous concept that is the Nine. But “new era” is coming
-
So is it going to flop, or be the next Lightfall?
