A hot take but an interesting one.
Watching the Marathon stream last night I had a thought because of the price point of marathon. Why not make a PVP DLC for Destiny 2?
I love D2 the worlds, the lore, the characters, the guns, the abilities and the way it feels to play.
If I’m honest I would pay £30 for a D2 PvP DLC which gave PvP better servers, new maps, new modes, more/stronger PvP team and I would definitely pay one dude just to comb through the list of suspected cheaters.
Anyone else like that or am i copping because marathon got a lot of PvP while D2 has come to feel like the step child of Bungie?
Edit: please upvote the post if this is something you like or could be interested in as it’s the only way to get our voice’s heard.

Nah not a PvP game

24 RepliesA dlc dedicated to pvp would kill this game. This is not nor never has been a pvp game it just has pvp added as a filler because it's easier for bungie then actually putting effort into making more actual content.

5 RepliesWatching the Marathon gameplay, I’m now 100% sure I have no interest in that new franchise. I don’t know who’s the target audience, but while I don’t mind PvP in a game like D2, and I definitely support the idea of an upgrade, a PvP coop game only based around extracting stuff sounds as exciting as eating a dry wheat bun.

Whahahah this guy pvp stuff for destiny hahaha haven’t you seen marathon trailers do you think they will spend a nother dime for destiny pvp. If you’re wondering where all your money when the last couple of years well there you have it
-
Christ that is just beyond ridiculous. They barely add anything in normal dlc now you want them to divert work on another aspect?
-
Well what we need to do as D2 players is don’t support or buy Marathon simple is what I am stand for
-
Marathon just looks like a Jaguar ad but w/ Concord vibes 🤡
-
I know it won't happen, because we've been asking for it forever now, but I just wish they'd get servers for PvP.

The reason devs stopped making priced map packs was because it would divide a community in a have and have nots. They did it in the past with curse and warmind and suffice to say people weren't happy A good incentive but most shooters nowadays provide map packs for free because of community divide and in the end, value differs per person. Meaning there is a chance if the maps are universally regarded as not good. The sentiment to buy the map pack is also non existent but would make the player pool lower for the people that did buy it Not a bad thought process

This is exactly why Bungie released the Marathon reveal before the Destiny Frontiers one.

Please do it. I just wanna watch the cat 5 crap storm this place turns into whne they announce a PvP-focused DLC lmao. Would be absolutely amazing and totally worth it.

2 RepliesEdited by TACO_Adept: 4/14/2025 12:26:37 PMWhat drugs are you on? They can't even do the current PVP here correctly. You want them to make us pay for another version.? I'd rather they just clean this up and make it playable. At least get a proper anti-cheat for starters. Then a couple of maps. They spend all their time pandering to the casuals and watering down raids and dungeons. What a waste of time and money.

elitegtryin to work with whats left.. for now - old
The funniest thing would be if D2 pivots to 90% PVP so we can stop hearing it from the space magic crowd...lol From a business perspective PVP is wayyyy less cost and you can go out and get those multi-thousands of players who left into a whole new reset of PVP as long as they are willing to invest some money and guarantees for the player-base. The hardcore/addicts that remain are easier to keep.. gotta provide reason for someone new-ish or rusty to D2 PVP to come back. (I'm not talkin what they did to trials.. "don't worry you can get loot as you get spanked" I'm talkin ways to teach, train, fair competition, show growth, stats, progression, transparency, dedication to balance..etc) Thats the ticket.
D2 PVP FTW
-
1 ReplyStep 1: BHQ to Redirect Marathon’s Dedicated Servers to Destiny Step 2: players Remove P2P and reconnect to your nearest Dedicated Regional Server Step 3: Let rip and have at it! That is all. Ease Springs! 🫡

Edited by jyoung314: 4/13/2025 3:39:48 PMThey could name the DLC "Renewed Focus"

Would be very nice, easy to maintain and easier to produce content for. It would be nice to have all the older PVP maps back for good in general. Really nice to have lobby deciding map voting
-
6 RepliesLmfao, if they made anything like that for destiny, the pvp community would be upset. It's not a slayer/tdm game mode, and they have to do *gasp* objectives.

3 RepliesThey have its called marathon

1 Reply“PVP DLC” 😂😂😂

4 RepliesEdited by S I L E N C E: 4/14/2025 5:21:35 AMAs a once PvP Main in Destiny 1 & Destiny 2.... It's safe to say that PvP will be in this spot that's its in for the rest of the game. It's been like this since D2 Launch, and it's had similar issues in D1 as well. We're lucky we're even seeing the Mech Vs Tank Gamemode. but just like the rest (Rift, Relic, Scorched, momentum) They'll just slap it in a rotator playlist & call it a day. As it's always been. Hype up a gamemode, slap it into a rotating playlist that everyone forgets about and only remembers because of seasonal challenges. The sandbox will still box you in to death. The sand will be re-organized differently but its still the same sand. Still the same underlying problems. PvP is cooked. The Finals has been a better PvP game to go to instead of playing Destiny 2's PvP. It's more balanced than D2 & more fun. Something D2 struggles to keep in their game. -The studio actually cares about their game & it shows. -The game has no SBMM -Each class is viable.

They initially tried this with trials to combat the cheaters. Long story short, it didn’t work. Also, the player base is already very low, this idea would divide an already low PVP player base. I love the new server concept, but Pete parsons gotta give up his 70’ Camaro for Bungie to afford this.

D2 mini game that we can bring D2 guardians into. Dedicated would be a must
