Hello,
I’m reaching out to discuss or receive guidance regarding a ban that was placed on my Destiny 2 account.
About six months ago, during the release of the Icebreaker Dungeon, my account was hacked. I had no idea this had happened until I received an email from Microsoft alerting me to suspicious activity. I logged in immediately and was devastated to find that my Destiny account had been permanently banned.
After looking into it, I discovered that my gaming email and Steam accounts had both been compromised, with credentials changed to another email and phone. When I reviewed my game history, I saw that the account had been used in a way that resembled a dungeon carry service—something I would never do. I understand why, based on that activity, a ban might have been issued. But I want to be clear: I have never cheated. I’ve put in countless hours grinding dungeons, raids, and PvP to earn exotics and gear the right way. That’s what makes Destiny so rewarding—and fun—especially when playing with my friends.
Destiny has been a part of my life since 2014. It’s more than a game to me—it’s something that’s connected me with close friends for over a decade. Seeing it all taken away because of something I didn’t do has been heartbreaking.
I also want to share that I have strong evidence of the account being compromised:
- Steam confirmed my account had been compromised and helped me recover it.
- Third-party monitoring tools flagged that my credentials had been leaked on the dark web prior to the hack. (I was working through my accounts - Started with financial)
- I had other accounts (like streaming services) breached around the same time.
I had 2FA enabled on my PlayStation account, which helped reduce the damage, but unfortunately the attacker still got into Steam. Since then, I’ve taken every possible step to secure all of my accounts and prevent this from happening again.
In a recent post, Bungie said: “We’re always looking to do right by our players in our unending efforts to keep cheats, toxicity, and abuse out of Destiny 2.” The angry part of me sees that and thinks—someone took my account, used it for personal gain, and in doing so, ruined something that’s meant so much to me and my friends for years. I’m just asking: does evidence of an account compromise matter in cases like this? Is there any chance my case could be reviewed with these circumstances in mind?
Thank you for your time in reading this and any help or direction anyone can offer.
Sincerely,
Thanatos8Five#5719

The only place to submit an appeal is via our Contact Form. However, please note that there is no guarantee you will get a response, especially if your ban will be upheld. Additionally, ban appeals are not conducted on the forums. As you've already submitted an appeal, you've done all you can. If several weeks pass with no reply, you can safely assume your ban will remain in place. With respect to account security, this is players' responsibility. This is why we encourage players to secure their game accounts by following our Account Security Guide so that they don’t have a chance to be compromised.

2 RepliesThe forums cannot assist with a ban. Bungie also does not answer ban posts
