And Bungie either failing to see it or worse completely ignoring it
With the lack of lobby balancing your match outcome is already determined by not your skills or how good you did, no it all about the skills of your teammates that’s the MAJOR factor
You could be the best player in the world with the game of your life and still loose because little jimmy on your team kept getting farmed feeding the enemies super, abilities and confidence
And don’t get me started on quitters
All decent online shooters knows that and they put system around it to not severely punish the player, but hey that’s Bungie we’re talking about here although i’m sure Marathon will get all the good stuff
The bottom line just like EVERYTHING in this game your comp results are determined by RNG too

1 ReplyYup, just checked destiny tracker, went 2-8 in comp yesterday in plat lobbies. I’m not the best player, but I go flawless each week and carry like a 1.5KD in trials or something close to that and have soloed to ascendant rank once in season 21 I think it was. Out of those 10 games only 3 had the winning teams win probability between 50 and 60% (what bungie I would have to assume considers a balanced lobby) All the others had the winning teams win probability at 65% or higher, all the way up to I think 87% was the highest. Small sample of 10 games I know, but that means that 70% of the matches I played yesterday were essentially predetermined when all they had to do was swap 1 player from each team (based on hidden ELOs) to get it closer to a 50/50 game. It’s insane. And quite literally all for just an emblem. Idk why I even bother anymore lol.

3 RepliesTell me about it. Lost rank in al three matches this week. Twice for being the top performer of the match. All three matches the top performer of my team, the only one going positive + most objectives completed. Game punishes you for being matched with bad teammates. It determines nothing.

I play less pvp each episode and year so my opinion is limited. But the fact the game knows what your chances are at winning and losing and dictates how much reputation you get is all the proof I know that its rigged

1 ReplyIt’s honestly wrong of you to be misinformed, bungie has stated multiple times that you are not playing the other team you are playing a behind the scene scoring system. And the outcome of the game determines you’re win and lose of points. This is the most competitive system they have and other games also go by this system. So a tldr you’re not playing the other players your playing to you part within the system of the game sometimes you are ment to lose but by how much determines how good you are

If you want to know why match making is so bad then consider this. There are about 35 thousand people concurrently playing Destiny 2 right now and 8% of that player base is playing Crucible which equates to around 2800 people playing that format. Enough said

Edited by TBONE: 4/11/2025 5:24:12 PMHere’s the answer Play better! No participation trophy in COMP. You got trials turned into that and now look it’s dead.

7 RepliesEdited by PandaPapa146: 4/11/2025 2:22:31 PMThere’s a really simple solution to fix Comp… W=50 points / Draw= 30 points / L=10 points Quitters / AFK* = 0 points Q teammates who stay and finish =40 points It’s not rocket science! 🙄 That is all (again!) Ease Springs! 🤔 *post-edit (see below)

Edited by brigs_PS: 4/11/2025 1:18:11 AMYes it’s essentially a waste of time if your loss or win was determined by Bungie and not your team.

Definitely ignoring it. Most the systems in this game are fundamentally objectively poorly designed and have been. They've ignored their systems way too much for far too long. Past that, they never give their systems time to actually mature and materialize a long term return to build around before throwing it away for no reason. It (among other things) is why I stopped playing and am baffled as to why people are even still playing. They do not care. They do not know what they are doing. And want to ask a premium while providing content most the community takes some degree of issue with and making a lot of nonsense narrative decisions. All of this above? Could genuinely make a 3-4 hour video on all this in depth. Easily. The short comings are far too numerous and have stacked up over the years. Last time there was any semblance of thought to the long term of the franchise was from Forsaken to Season 11. There were some pockets elsewhere like in Beyond Light and Season 14. Past that? Its been a downward slope. Witch Queen kicked the can down the road of the issues and made some innovation but ultimately the rest of Year 5 cemented the game's decline and Lightfall was the nail in the coffin. That update killed the franchise's potential growth much like Destiny 2 at launch did. It really is disappointing to think that had Bungie made some really obvious decisions and not been so greedy and careless with the franchise, they easily could to this day have 2 million plus daily players. Y2 and Y3 showed this.
