Patrol is underwhelming

Definitely needs a lot more Edit: the final shape patrol is way better than the normal ones I remember patrol in dreadnought way back you just -blam!- around and suddenly you are running into a dungeon on a quest. That was peak Like the secret exotic class item mission, the fact that you have no clue what is going on or what to do, you just suddenly see a miniboss and then you're in a quest That sense of mystery and exploration used to make destiny feel deep. Like, the most interesting i got in patrol was talking to toland orb on the moon.

  • Remember in d1 when it felt important to run patrols?

  • I’d love literally any reason to do patrol. Some sort of rotating enemy “hotspot” or something would be amazing. Like let every world drop weapon drop with double or triple perks during that time or something 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yup. I think they will flesh it out more with the non-linear approach in the next expansion and have scenes, dialogue or quests trigger based on what you might encounter. Still need a vidoc to see the extent of this in action though.

    • Every planet needs an Escalation Protocol type event. It was the ORIGINAL 12-man experience.

Destination level was high, so for the first few weeks, you were fighting for your life. Patrols need higher difficulty options. Think nightfall difficulty options. They need unique high value targets with their own mechanics that evolve with increases in difficulty. More secrets. Adventure type quests. Rare rewards.

        • I’ve always like the idea that patrols should have some sort of defence purpose, say a large event occurs somewhere and if guardians don’t defend an outpost it affects the materials/equipment we can have on that planet or maybe the tower.

        • I'll say it .... Dreaming city was the best public patrol they've put out. (In d2)

          • Probably because every time Bungie does something with Patrol, people complain. Neomuna shouldn't have enemies this tanky. The Pale Heart feels too lonely. And we all know how people feel about the Dreadnought.

            • Most of my time was mainly on the hull breach opening up chests and patrol missions best hours spent back in the taken king days .

            • Patrol (at least the type that has been with Destiny since the beginning) has been neglected completely since The Throne World. We did have Neomuna, but that was a distinct departure from the more casual, less sweaty public patrol locations of the past. Then there was The Pale Heart, which wasn’t even a normal public patrol location. And now The Dreadnaught, which unlike the D1 version did not even bring us a regular public patrol location. Only good addition to patrol was the Leviathan, with its multi player activity and two separate smaller patrol areas. It was one of Bungie’s better efforts, but disappeared after its season ended. Public Patrol locations seem to be off the radar for Bungie. They simply ignore most existing patrol locations. Just isn’t a priority these days. They would rather put their efforts into tedious exotic quests than spicing up or adding any new public patrol areas.
