I hope Destiny isn’t going to be second rate to Bungie.

This is a post to the studio who have made some of my favourite games throughout the years and provided many hours of joy to myself and others a like. Recently I have felt with the last year of Destiny 2 has been overlooked by Bungie with some of the issues we have had with the echoes and the studio. Now this isn’t to say that there isn’t an amazing team who have worked on and continue working on Destiny 2 but with the issues we have had it does lead me to think Destiny maybe inferior to Marathon. These feelings come from seeing Destiny 2 face challenges including a declining player base, technical issues like bugs and crashes, a “perceived” lack of engaging content, Stale Core Playlists, Lack of new replayability, QA Issues and along with concerns about the future direction of the game. (Other issues too) Now I don’t want to be all doom and gloom about this as we have had some amazing content In the past year. Destiny 2 saw the launch of "The Final Shape" expansion, featuring a new raid (Salvations Edge), The Prismatic subclass, Exotic Class items, Two Amazing dungeons (Vespers Host & Sundered doctrine), Amazing narrative elements in the echo story lines (Confronting the Vex, Fikrul, Orxy’s return and his story), Battle ground missions, Onslaught salvation, The nether, All the exotic weapon missions and with other great things too. These are what have kept me playing Destiny 2 and I hope that you can continue this type of amazing work that somehow offers me adventure still. I just don’t want to see Destiny 2 fail at the expense of other projects which were ultimately possible because of the great feats of Destiny 2. That’s all from me, Destiny 2 fan.

  • Your choice of tense is kinda funny. "going to be". My guy if you haven't felt it yet by the millionth "we do not care about the destiny franchise anymore and put zero effort and resources into it" -sign, then i don't know. Do they literally have to facetime call you guys to scream that into your face? Bungie has long given up on D2. They shifted priorities and resources long ago. Towards Marathon and also towards a good amount of now already failed and cancelled incubator projects. Most of their talented devs have either been shifted towards those or have been laid off or also in some cases simply left Bungie. The skeleton crew thats left working "Destiny the eververse store" excuse me, "Destiny the video game", are mostly uninspired junior devs with zero passion for the franchise. Thats your bright future for destiny.

    • They're working on a video to dazzle your eyes and queuing up a good speech for some devs to "hook and reel" us gamers into thinking the next Dlc will be the new beginning And the bootlickers..er..I mean the youtubers that want you to like and subscribe to them will say it's the best thing since bacon😆🤣😆 Also this for Marathon!

Bungie has seemed desperate to move on from Destiny 2 for a while. Marathon is seen as the future and is where time/investment is currently (and has been for a while) targeted. It kinda echoes the time when Bungie was desperate to move on from Halo and start Destiny. But I don’t think there’s as much general goodwill towards them amongst gamers now as there was then.

        • Don't overdeliver speech is a gigantic sign they don't care about destiny or any game they're making, just make it quick to release and fix things later (if they fix it at all) and focus on monetization

Marathon is too niche and will for sure have a smaller playerbase than Destiny, not initially though as with all new releases it will have a surge. But Marathon if its only mode/gameplay is an extraction shooter it'll be hard for it to cultivate a large playerbase, since it won't appeal to Halo players since it lacks arena based PvP and Destiny players won't care because its focused primarily on PvP. I also don't see how Marathon exactly scales up like Destiny or other live service games can when its hard limited to being an extraction shooter unless Bungie changes that.

I am expecting Sony to cancel all D2 DLC , so Bungie can focus on Marathon Marathon will be cheaper, no VAs,expensive set pieces, cutscenes ,destinations, strikes,Dungeons, raids just the same map and PvP tuning Look how fast Sony pulled the plug on Concord, even after investing 400m into it What if the reason Bungie has been radio silent on Apollo, is because Sony informed them it isn't a sure thing , maybe that's one reason it wasn't in State Of Play, and why we can't pre-order it yet

            • We have already gone through that stage. 2018 is when production started. Ie the years when destiny 2 was the step child and marathon was the focus was 2018-2023. There will be a marathon team and a destiny team. The more popular one would win further attention. I guess my point is, we are past the worries you have. Teams are formed and are doing next years content already. Destiny will see a lighter amount of content (ie full blown expansions) approaches via the launch of marathon, but we have been warned as such. The next year of destiny 2 will be a massive dlc cut up and released over a years time to set expectations.

                • Unfortunately, I think it already is. Considering they were pulling resources from Destiny 2 to fund all those other games that got canned as well as Marathon... Bungie just doesn't care anymore.

                  • I agree. It feels like the development and attention to the Destiny franchise has been put in the background & isn’t a priority to the studio any longer. Both PlayStation and Bungie seem to have all of the elements in the Marathon basket. I’d be lying if I made the claim that it’s not making me a little biased and spiteful towards Marathon and seriously effecting my desire to even give it a chance. I’m almost hoping for failure in hopes they’ll return to putting effort into Destiny again. Petty, I know. But it is the state of the state for me.

                  • We’re supposed to be getting Frontiers in what 3 or 4 months and we haven’t heard or seen a damn thing about it yet, instead they’re teasing Marathon. Kinda says everything right there.

                    • Unfortunately for Destiny, Marathon will actually do well as much as guardians want it to fail. Maybe even better than good. I've been a bungie game fan for a long time. Each time they come around its into a market that didn't know what it needed until it got it. Halo into the market completely went nuts. Destiny went into the market and even unfocused it's still going. Now Marathon is coming in. If you've played extraction shooters it's missing a lot of things. If I can see that they're missing lots of things and its not my job - I'm just a gamer - you know bungie has been watching and picking apart every other extraction title. Yes the market is older but so was the market when their past two massive games dropped. I'll bet a box of girl scout cookies on Marathon just being amazing.
