Ok, I've started noticing that I've hated most of the combinations of class items on my warlock and I always feel like everything always feels so stale. But they I play with Prismatic Hunter class items, or Prismatic Titan class items, and there feels like there are so many more options, and then I started to look at the class item perks between the classes to try and see why warlock felt so stale and like there weren't as many options. And they I realized that Bungie has been against us Warlocks all along and none of us even saw it. There was favoritism for a whole year, and no one has noticed. But now I'm going to bring it to light.
I like many other Warlocks use Phoenix Dive a lot on Prismatic Warlock because it feels more fluid, and smooth to me to use, as well as the shorter cooldown being beneficial. Sound familiar Titans? Sounds a lot like your thruster doesn't it? Well, what if I told you that is how Bungie has been favoring titans? You see, there are 2 perks on the exotic Warlock bond that only work with any rift, 1 that only works on an empowering rift, and 1 that is a fine example of what the other 3 should do. So lets start with the last one, Spirit of the Filaments. For reminders, what this does is it makes it so that when you cast your empowering rift you gain devour, as well as while you have devour active kills give you class ability energy. This is in my opinion how all of the class ability based exotic perks should work, with a main beneficial effect for being on the generic class ability(that being gaining devour on empowering rift cast), and a lesser effect for being on the subclass specific class ability(only gaining the class ability regen on devour kills, but not the devour on phoenix dive cast). And if you are going to look at me and tell me that its fine for Spirit of the Stag, Spirit of Vesper, and Spirit of Starfire to do LITERALLY NOTHING if you have phoenix dive equipped, but things like Spirit of the Horn, Spirit of Hoarfrost, Spirit of Abeyant(and Drengr's Lash more specifically), and Spirit of Alpha Lupi can all have alternate effects for thruster instead of barricade, then you need to lay off the goof juice because you're gonna start making Jimbo from Balatro look like he was just a Joe. Yes they are by far worse effects, but that is to be expected, it is a more offensive aggressive class ability with a shorter cooldown. So why does Phoenix Dive not get this same treatment? They don't have to be 1 for 1 copies of their own effects, just something, give them some kind of small bonus effect incase you happen to be on the other class ability, I'm no game designer but hell I'll throw out some ideas. Spirit of the Stag, you could make it so that with Phoenix Dive this gives something similar to Gifted Convictions x2 resist to you and any allies that are hit by it for a few seconds, nothing broken, but it continues the idea of the exotic just allowing it to work in a lesser way but still allowing you to fully use your Prismatic Kit. Spirit of Vesper, same thing, you could just make it so that with Phoenix Dive instead of just it being attached to your rift its a one off on your dive. You could even keep the blind effect only with a Arc super, or hell, if you think that would be too much, don't even give it that. But again, let it do SOMETHING.
And just to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bungie is Titan coded and incase someone wants to make the argument of, 'well maybe they are effects that bungie wanted, but didn't want to change the functionality of the exotic and how it worked.' Normally I'd say that is a good point, but unfortunately for you I'm a Warlock and I did at least 5 minutes of research before typing all of this up, and if you go ahead and do this little thing and take a look at the original exotic Crest of Alpha Lupi, I'll go ahead and put it here to make it easier, "Generates an additional Orb of Power from Supers and a healing pulse when Barricade is activated." It specifically mentions Barricade, but the Spirit version was changed to just class ability, same thing with Spirit of Horn. So why did they not give bonus functionality to the Warlock perks? I for one think that adding bonus effects for Phoenix Dive would be a great way to make the Warlock Class Item feel like its not restricting Prismatic Warlocks from build crafting opportunities, and it might even give a chance to step away from the perk that kinda feels like the elephant in the room (we're all looking at you Spirit of Inmost Light). Maybe it'll see use, maybe it won't but I think that making Prismatic Warlock slightly more diverse in the builds you can make is a good thing. Especially when in my opinion Prismatic Warlock already feels very strict when it comes to build crafting but that is a topic for another day. But I do want to hear from other people what they might think of this. I'm curious if I'm the only one that has an issue with this or if other people might agree. Also just to quell worry, yes the title was mainly just satire for the point of slight clickbait. Hopefully it worked and you read this. Also, also, thank you if you read to the end, sorry this probably didn't come through as well as it did in my head, but I hope I got my point across.
Also, also, also, have a good day. :)

I ain't ever reading all that! For those who did, however, lemme have a little bet with y'all. I bet.... that there is ZERO "proof" in any of what was written, & it is just, infact, opinion. Tell me I'm wrong! 🤣

5 RepliesEdited by GradeMyGuardianTTV: 3/28/2025 4:41:08 PMA multi-effect Exotic never stood a chance with this development team. It was destined to -blam!- the bed the moment the idea was pitched. My advice is to just drop Prismatic from your lineup. The subclass has done irreparable damage to this franchise. Damage that is only undone through Destiny 3 OR the following- https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/264474782

Warlocks are in a solid position in pve with the exception of stasis and strand only having one super. They don't need to be over powered. Plenty of build versatility and great survivability. And you shown no real proof just your prospective but from my perspective bungie have gotten warlocks nice and balanced.

"coded" told me everything I needed to know.
