So, my friends and I love playing PvP. One of my friends though has very bad matchmaking. Cheesy players against us, sweaty players against us, bs to fight against every time. That stuff.
So when we don’t play with him our games get significantly better to play, there are still rough games, but not like the lobbies we get with our friend. We 3 staked and got terrible feeling games. Then we 4 staked with him out and the games were the most fun games all day. I don’t understand, his skill level is on my friend groups level, KD same range. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just games feel miserable with his matchmaking.
He is in Iowa, and majority of us all are in West coast. I have no clue what’s going on, his connection is fine and everything too. I just don’t get it, we all don’t get it. It’s not even our friends play style either, it’s legit his matchmaking/lobbies.
Any help clarification on this would be amazing.

1 ReplyI’ve noticed something similar. Whenever I play with my friend who is 20 minutes away from me the lobbies get significantly more laggy. Mostly “fine” or at least bearable on my own, her too, but as soon as we join a friend it’s night and day. Both have very good internet and latency. And I’d understand proximity to servers and whatnot, but both cases, on ps5, the game tanks in pvp as soon as in a fireteam

I can't help you. I have the same problem when playing with my cousin. Separately, matches are fine most of the time, but when we team up, matches feel -blam!-. We're not too far apart in skill, but his KD is only around .80. My overall is 1.05, but my average episode kd is around 1.20. Every time we team up and play together, we're almost always at the bottom of the leader board. Aim assist feels like it's almost non-existent, and radar just spazzes out, which makes it really hard to tell if enemies are close, or really even there. It's bizarre. We both have great Internet, and only live about 30 miles apart. I just don't get it. That's why I only play solo 99% of the time. It just seems to feel terrible when we play as a Fireteam, so I usually just avoid it completely.

1 ReplyEdited by PandaPapa146: 3/27/2025 3:38:53 AMIs there any difference as to when your buddy forms the group vs. when he joins an already formed group? 🤔 If 👆not relevant, then most likely it’s a West Coast / Iowa* laggy lobby connection thingymajig thang…probably?! 😁 That is all. 3 RepliesWhat modes? Do you play at the same times with and without him? can you DM the player in questions username, seeing his stats/games might give me an idea of what's happening.

In cod if you quit matches there's a secret "punishment " system. You'll be placed in games in progress, lopsided matches, forced losses, basically sbmm is evil and not your friend. Proper lobby balance is what destiny needs
