I’m probably what you’d call a hunter main - whatever that means but I enjoy playing all classes.
GG Supremacy has really illuminated something to me however, Warlocks really suffer in PvP. Any game I’ve played in guardian games as a Warlock has resulted in a mercy - regardless of how I do, Warlocks get absolutely trampled - especially against Titans who, as soon as as they get their first Thundercrash, steamroll them. As soon as I play Hunter, it’s a different story. Facing Warlocks is a free win.
To me, it’s never been more obvious that Warlocks need some PvP love.

2 RepliesMaybe you should start a support group.

10 RepliesI’m by no means a great PvP player, but Warlock is my favorite class in PvP. Strand and Solar are my favorites. Weavewalk and Traveler’s Chosen give me so many threadlings it’s actually ridiculous. Solar Warlock has such good-feeling movement, even better when combined with Rain of Fire. Having a marksman dodge on a 3 second cooldown (or whatever it is) feels great. Void is alright, I like Child of the Old Gods. It makes rechallenging more difficult and takes fire off of me for a brief time. Also, if you can get devour rolling, a heal after every kill feels great. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Arc, but I’m curious how the new aspect is in PvP. I personally don’t like Stasis, but the slow turret and AoE rift freeze are pretty good. I don’t really get what people’s problem with Warlocks is.

Cuz 3 effortless battle buddies that freeze enemies do your killing for you and that are assist machines all at the same time isn't enough

1 Replywarlock don't suffer inside pvp, players lack hands to use them

4 RepliesEdited by Hawpy: 3/14/2025 11:22:31 PMThe difference between Warlocks and the other classes in PvP has always been a lack of game-changing Exotics. Everyone uses Ophidian Aspect or Transversive Steps to improve their neutral game, but they're not going to win fights or matches on their own. These items have consistently been the best that Warlocks have had over the last 7+ years. The closest you can get to an Exotic that offers a genuine threat on its own is Solipsism with Necrotic and Synthoceps, for killing groups with Lightning Surge. Compare that to items like OEM, Antaeus Ward, Stompies, Wormhusk, Loreley, YAS, Gemini Jester... the list goes on. Consider them not just now but also at the peak of their powers, these were/are meta-defining items, without even mentioning current RDM. When have Warlocks had anything like that? 7 years and we can't anything better than a flat +35 to Handling and Reload. The most illustrative stat for where the meta is at right now is that in Trials so far, there have been more Hunters just on Void than there have been Warlocks total.

7 RepliesThey have the best class ability and some of the best movement overall what are you talking about????

8 RepliesEdited by Forze: 3/15/2025 3:17:18 PMI think you just had bad luck, due to the nature of the activity. There are plenty of good warlocks out there, including some of the best PvP players like Terror and ZkMushroom. Exotic wise in PvP - yes, you are right. There's only 2 real options, maybe 3 with the void helmet, but I feel like blink is only good for controller players, which I'm not. Rest is a bit gimmicky or cheesy, but to pull the cheese it requires much more skill compared to Hunters and Titans. Ability/Fragment/Aspect wise - there are certain things that need improvement or some novelty. Some in PvE, some in PvP, some which affect all classes. But this is whole another topic and in general I think we are mostly fine. For now. :) And for example I think that Stasis Locks are secretly OP in 3v3, but with the Destiny 2 connections sadly it's very unpredictable subclass for me to play it. Maybe that perception that locks are underpowered comes from the fact that after subclass 3.0 hit, Titans and Hunters just had more OP/cheesy periods. But I'll never ask for Locks to be OP, it's just when they update the game they need to tune Titans and Hunter a bit more. Because there is always someone crying "there can't be perfect balance, let me have fun, bla-bla-bla", but the reality is everyone with more experience in the PvP playlists can tell you that some things were shipped broken.
-
1 ReplyYeah no, just be cheeky and spam stasis turrets and hide in the air in weird places for easy picks. I don't like being that guy, but warlocks can be pretty busted if you even remotely lean on the meta
-
1 ReplyBungie shoehorns warlock playstyle too much. It's either well -blam!- or daybreak or spam turrets. Nothing else like actually making voidwalker a top contender in pvp. Meanwhile it's only second place because everything else is dogwater.

2 RepliesWarlock main here...9k hours on it but play all 3. Warlocks have been the whiping post since right after beyond light. We had 1 week with stasis and devs nerfed it into the ground but hunters kept shatter dive for almost a year....titans kept loralei about the same,....list goes on and on. I could name off dozens of broken exotics for titans and hunters but none for warlocks....same with classes and specs. We had chaos reach, nerfed that into oblivion years ago and just now it came back in PVE We had handheld supernova during recluse days and that was nerfed into oblivion and then just deleted. We had well of radiance...nerfed into oblivion but titan bubble still a nuisance. Ah yes and the fun part....melee. As a warlock if you go up to a hunter or titan with a fully charge melee and just melee them they will not die. If they do an uncharged melee to you, you will die. This has never made any damn sense. Only way a melee can kill is if they are like 20% or less. Also the timing of them melee vs other classes....slowest there is yet the weakest as well.
-
1 ReplyBungie saw that warlocks were the least used class in pvp and said “I know what we need to do! Nerf snap skating!”
-
Warlocks desperately need some PvP love. The only way I can compete against a full team of hunters (While having fun) has been glaive + Karnsteins. (Since hunters are low resil typically, they die in 2 swings). Either on Strand or prismatic. Weavewalk + grapple melee. Blink + Lightning surge + Devour + Coldsnap. In trials I always main T-Steps because there is nothing else.... our movement is too slow compared to the other 2 classes, and T-Steps can mean the difference between dying running to cover & successfully running to cover/ getting out of situations.

5 RepliesHow do you figure they struggle. Getaway artist dual turrets. I mean that’s three things shooting at someone.

2 RepliesEdited by cyb0rgSaint00: 3/14/2025 10:18:16 PMYea! Well said! I’ve been a warlock mai a long time. A lot of PvP. And it’s an uphill battle during every engagement, however when I swap to Titan or Hunter the classes feel much smoother and even aim assist feels better. My competitiveness increases dramatically!! The other classes have the advantage. The Main things I would improve are the well and super animations. And I agree all of the warlock grenades don’t have the same damage. Those are way to slow in comparison to other classes and make the feel of the class on par with the other two.

10 RepliesAs a Warlock main one of the things I've noticed playing PVP is that a Warlock's rift isn't build for PVP. The rift itself is to slow with healing and you can easily be shot out of the rift in various way.
-
1 ReplyI think the real problem is that Warlocks are the only balanced class left. Hunters and Titans have been overtuned and have dominated for a while now, they need to be reigned in.
-
3 RepliesBro warlocks need some love in general, we are still -blam!- chained to well in PVE because Well like its the only super we have, we don't have any exotics to increase our one and done super damage, similar to nighthawk and CFS. 40 percent of our exotics are to our rifts, with most of them being useless unless it ties into being a support class and bungie refuses to innovate on the warlock class in any meaningful way. Not to mention being forced into use trace rifles, in order to feed the rest of the team heavy. Worst part is, Nobody ever thanks you for doing it, and its just like how sherpa's feel when they go to teach a raid so people learn the mechanics and all people want to do is be on ad clear and not learn or contribute to finishing the raid. Pvp is even worse because if anything even slips out of place on warlocks it's immediately gutted while broken hunter and titan stuff is left unchecked for freaking weeks to months or even years. TBH this season is the first time I've notice bungie tackle both hunter and titans causing pvp issues so quickly. now all warlocks need is a glow up to feel more fun to play across all classes OTHER THAN SOLAR. because god knows a little variety never hurts.

IMO as warlock main I have to play hunter for pvp idk sometimes in pvp it feels the warlock at a huge disadvantage maybe due to its kit more suited for PvE When they nerfed "Ophidian Aspect" I was done pvp with warlock especially when they removed melee range but allowed hunter and titans keep theirs when the warlock doesn't even have gd close melee options and pvp exotic besides "Ophidian Aspect" and "Transverse Steps" Ophidian Aspect rework was unnecessary I rather have a tiny nerf to melee range then having it replaced with AE😒
-
Yep. I feel at a significant disadvantage when I use warlock. It’s actually sad.
-
It’s because whenever warlocks get something even remotely good in pvp, hunter mains cry nerf until bungie comes in and guts it. Been that way since Taken King.
-
4 RepliesEdited by jyoung314: 3/16/2025 11:29:26 PMWarlocks have been shite in pvp forever. You have to be exceptionally good at the game to do well with one vs good teams. You be infinitely better just using one of the better classes though. The fact that OA and TS are still, after all of this time, the best and virtually only choices for pvp exotic options is very telling. Hunters are literal easy mode and titans get some really broken stuff occasionally that Bungie lets live for a long time. Warlocks get nothing for pvp, ever. Anything remotely useful will be swiftly nerfed into uselessness.
-
1 ReplyI just don’t want new abilities to either be a new turrent or a rift gimmick.
-
2 RepliesNope. There's a reason a lot of top-tier players use Warlock. Potatoes failing to use a class well doesn't make that class weak.
-
1 ReplyI main warlock and PvP. Just comes down to builds really. One of my favorites right now is outbreak with the an arc super and the chest price that blinds and flashbangs with lightning surge and typically a heal clip kill clip side arm and eager edge sword. Warlocks are okay.
-
Ya compared to all the cheesy bs -blam!- get it’s a joke how pathetic these pvp devs are with warlocks
