With all the posts I’ve seen on here complaining about trials especially since the re-work, 99.9% of the “issues” you experience are your own fault. You were given a SBMM card but refuse to play it because you want the lighthouse card’s rewards knowing full well that it prioritizes connection. You complain about a horribly imbalanced matchmaking experience but upon a quick look at your match history we learn that you are the sole reason your teams are losing games. The sad reality is, there is not a single change that Bungie could implement that will make you a better player, that is your own responsibility to improve. In fact, the current meta Bungie tuned is the most entry-level I’ve seen in a long time. I implore some of you making these posts to check your own match history before making a post about how bad the game mode is.

2 RepliesThe sooner people wake up and stop blaming losses on everything but themselves the better the experience would be for everyone. Just seems like no one wants to ever admit that someone may actually just be better than them 😬

I'd consider myself an middle road player. I'm not an absolute thumb and I'm not a "clutch a 1v3 superstar" but I can hold my own, usually. I play a very specific way in Trials & Comp and it's not really aggressive. I'm the kind of guy who stays back and tags so my partners who are way more aggressive have easier clean ups. I usually solo and if my partners are very good rushers who like to play up close, I can typically win those matches or they are very close. I'm not getting win streaks or going flawless on a weekly basis. I think prior to these changes I went flawless maybe ~15x I tried the regular Trials passage last time and got a metric ton of rolls of the hand cannon even when I was getting my buns handed to me. I tried the Lighthouse card this time and even though I lost a bunch, the RNG gods smiled upon me and when I had partners that clicked, we did well. There is space in Trials for everyone but at the end of the day, you're still at the mercy of the matchmaking. Even if you play in the regular Trials passage with SBMM, some people just have bad games/luck even against people of similar skill. And honestly, I thought Iron Banner felt way more sweaty than Trials has been.

13 RepliesNegative kd players should not be allowed in lighthouse passage. All I get is dog -blam!- casuals looking for a carry

21 RepliesI genuinely wish casual players would just stop interacting with PvP as a whole. Leave it for the hardcores only. And then, when things progress as they always do, and the “real” PvPers are sweating every single match like they supposedly were when SBMM took over… We just sit back and remind them that they literally asked for it.

3 RepliesEdited by Tis-but-a-scratch: 3/2/2025 8:13:07 PMOne thing you better players seem to never get through your skulls. We “lesser than” players completely understand no SBMM. We understand we suck at that level of play. The issue is the seemingly always lopsided, imbalanced teams. It’s not always 1 bad players fault they loose 5-0. Get real. And it’s not always why the end results look like this Team A 5.0, 8.0, 11.0 Team B .33, .5, 0.0 You know good and damn well there is no balance, it’s even in quick play. The unfortunate truth is Bungles inability and refusal to balance the teams. Why? Well I suppose then cause the better players wouldn’t be as good as they think they are and the streamers wouldn’t have as good of content to put out. But so long as it’s in your favor you’ll gladly turn a blind eye to it.

Hum true. Players tends to think it is IMPOSSIBLE that losing is their fault. Its always this damn matchmaking ! Players expect so much from the matchmaking its ridiculous. No matchmaking in no game can save you its not magic. Stop counting on it to carry you, it wont.

6 RepliesIt's not easy to do but it is WAY easier now that you don't have to worry about losses. Just grind people. Just grind.

Edited by Sen: 3/2/2025 4:32:24 PMI wish more people understood that they're not good and understand its not an insult to point that out. As you said, a lot of the people complaining about trials are just not good AT ALL. Like .5 in regular crucible and expect to have winning games. There is no amount of changes that could possibly have the game be in their favor.

1 ReplyTrials suck no board rotation

8 RepliesCalled this as soon as it was announced, bungie never learn. A few weekends of beatings bring nothing but complaints, people leave & numbers are right back were they where before the changes. The real truth is it's over a decade old, & nothing will revitalise it now, it is what it is. There are some truly terrible players out there, enticed by easy adept guns they'll never use but they're too dumb to realise they're being played by bungie to be cannon fodder.

3 RepliesEdited by Roach: 3/2/2025 6:24:19 AMOh look. This again. I left my second or third game on Friday, and haven't been back, after I gave an enemy a solid three burst with a Pulse Rifle. He shot me. Then he died from the rounds I hit him with before he had even fired at me. Clearly, this was all about my skill because I lack the skill to time travel and shoot him first in lag world. Or the guy who was flying around the map like Superman. Clearly all about my skill that and my ability to counter rapidly manoeuvring airborne threats. Or the three matches with the two best players on the same team. Twice. Clearly all about my skill, nothing at all ever ever ever about lopsided matchmaking giving them an advantage. Lets be honest. Trials isn't about skill, it's about ego drivers feeling good about being slightly better at something that anyone can do as long as they have functioning eyes and fingers and a basic level of co-ordination between the two. These Trials sweats are the same clowns ruining your Nightfall with their little jumpy Hunter in a cowboy hat using nothing but a hand cannon as they slide around everywhere getting in your way as you try to stun the Champion they have been pinging away at, to no effect, for thirty seconds. You see them in Onslaught all the time using just a Midnight Coup for all 50 levels. Nothing in Destiny requires "skill", it's a crutch put about by people trying to make out they matter at something. And Trials is, and always will be, about getting enough players in so hand cannon toting jumpy Hunter in the cowboy hat can always have someone to stomp. Usually because he is paired with jumpy Hunter number two against a team of other players who just want some loot. It's not about players getting better it's about sweats having meat to grind. The recent changes are all about getting the meat to hang around long enough to be ground. And nothing more. You only had to witness the teary hissy fits when the jumpy Hunters had to play each other all the time because every one else bailed from the mode. Being good at Trials is like bragging that you sit at the cool table in the Mental Hospital Cafeteria.

1 ReplyWho tf plays pvp lol?

17 RepliesUnfortunate truth about you: The only reason you’re having fun in Trials is because the people you want to drive away are actually in the playlist.
-
And also, when they get carried, or 5:0 the opponents, do they feel the same for the opponents? They don’t, they just forget, and only remember those 0:5s. Literally it says open skill matchmaking, and there’s no lobby balancing. Random is so difficult to understand it seems.

1 ReplyHow the fook are people moaning about easy mode Trials 😂
-
Fr, they make a kiddy pool for all those griefing losers and then they don't even play the ticket. It's insane to me how egoistical this community is.

12 Replies....I did better on the connection based card.... ....and I'm, at best, the definition of average.
