Something has to be done about the loot system in 2025...

How is the Heresy Tome model better than crafting in the slightest? Answer, It's not... The amount of loot you get on average per run of the Nether is the same as previous seasonal activities. The activity is just longer giving the illusion of more loot but the math ain't mathing. Even target farming with the Tome is awful. The perks dropping are never what i'm looking for after dozens of rolls. That includes all 4 (why tf are there 4) versions of each weapon, opening chests, and activity completions. Acting like the shiny weapons are special because they have 2 perks in the 3rd and 4th column is moronic. EVERY gun in the game should be dropping with 2 additional perks as the standard in 2025. I know Bungie doesn't respect our time but this is absurd with how abysmal the Nether is to run in the first place. Either make every gun have 2 more perks by default with "shiny" weapons having 3 or make a lot more targeted loot drop if you have such a hard on for RNG. Otherwise bring back crafting because the current setup ain't it.

  • D2 probably won’t be around in 2026 so this is it . Enjoy it while it is around .

  • All of this to ingnore the real issue. The RNg is bad because the perk pool is TOO large. Too many useless perk combinations. Trying to address the core issue with crafting, focused drops, targeted drops, multiple perks slots etc., is not fixing the problem but simply treating a symptom. Reduce the total number of perks. Make every perk combination useful - not the best roll but usable. These 2 things would make farming weapons better, because the total number of possible drops would be much smaller. Instead of a hundred plus possible combinations make it 25 possible combinations. Thereby making it much more likely that you get the drop you want. Making every possible combination actually useful would mean even if you get a less than ideal drop, you can still play with it and see what the weapon is like. In reality if weapons were balanced instead of being so perk dependent, the game would be way better. Bungie does not have time to fix the thousands of weapons, because they think quantity is better then quality of content. This is why the perpetual flow of reskinned and useless weapons droping every season/act/expansion.

    • The lack of crafting has slowly eroded my care and desire to play because on demand weapon experimentation had me playing more than ever. To see it suddenly taken away like that has soured my view of Bungie and the community. This didn’t need to be an either or situation. We can just have both so that players have the option to pursue how they want because people like different things. We’re not all the same. It’s really that simple. Crafting just needed balancing, that’s it.

      • Freedom comes from realising the weapons are worse versions of weapons already in the game. Once you accept that, then and only then, you can move on and ignore the mess that is the nether. Disclaimer: Some weapon combos are unique, but still not that special. I'll allow the arial denial gl in certain situations, but the rest of those weapons are meh at best.

      • I never enjoyed crafting. I do think we need way more weapon focusing and it shouldn’t cost materials either.

      • "How is the Heresy Tome model better than crafting in the slightest? Answer, It's not..." Answer : Crafting cut down play time. RNG meant if you really wanted the roll you'd play more to get it. All the tome does is give you a focus. Nothing more, nothing less. While I can empathize with not liking what's happened. The truth of the matter is Bungie needs to inflate play time........and crafting doesn't inflate it. It deflates it. Once you have your roll....you're done and finished. No need to replay.

        • I'm curious how the lack of crafting is going to hurt frontiers. Right now we have the tonics and the tome and activities to get weapons. But these are just rentals until frontiers. If there's a meta shift on perks or we decide to change some things around in the future we don't have that ability without crafting.

          • Crafting was respecting players time. Do i have to add anything to that statement? Respecting players time is a phrase that has never been heard in the holy halls of the Bungie HQ. So obviously they don't want us to be done with the grind in a reasonable timeframe. Back to the slot machine, wooo

            • Bungies intention is not to make anything "better" for the player in any way shape or form. Their entire intent is to make it more grindy to push player engagement numbers. Too bad that players are clearly fed up with all the bs and drop the game like flies left and right. Their "stretch grind" philosophy clearly doesnt work, does it?

I personally wish every weapon could be crafted and fully enhanced. I wish that in order to unlock an adept weapon; you would need to upgrade that weapon to level 50. Example: 17: all perks unlocked 20: stat bump 30: momentous 40: enhanced perks 50: adept mods This way; world loot could also accept adept mods. I also wish weapons couldn’t be so easily upgraded through resources like glimmer — so certain weapons wouldn’t always flood the sandbox, unless players invested their time into it. In other words; use the weapons you like in combat to upgrade them. Doing daily weapon bounties from banshee increase leveling progress by 2. Repeatable bounties by 1. The only exception to this rule should be flawless loot, grandmasters, hard mode dungeons, hard mode seasonal content, hard mode raids, and hard mode solo lost sectors — which could all drop weapons at level 50 with multiple perk slots open. Let red borders continue to drop for each weapon — with the option to still fully enhance that weapon if you find the roll you like. That way; you wouldn’t always need to delete a gun even if it has the perks you want — all because it can’t be enhanced. Thoughts?

                • Id play more if I could get the rolls I actually desired. And not farm for something that has 12 or more perks in each column. Just to have it not drop with an origin trait and / or not enhanceable. Even than loot means nothing i want new melees, class abilities, nades, new ways to play the subclasses. Not get a weapon that's gonna be replaced and or reissued.

                • They have to find a new way to move the goal post every season. Just to keep people engaged and those numbers pumped up This is all intended.

                • point of junky gimmicks is to deliver the same amount of content with more grind and to deliver the same or less total actually valuable loot sometimes they ramp up the junk delivery anytime you see tons of currencies in a system, some dev is working way too hard on engagement metrics and stretching content dopamine super thin - entertainment is often left far behind

                • Honestly, it wouldn't matter how much they improved rng farming, crafting is still better, because we don't have to clog up our vaults hoarding every good roll because we know we'll never get it again if we end up wanting it for a build. It's just infinitely superior to be able to get 5 red borders and then never need to keep another copy of that weapon in our vaults because we can craft any roll we want any time we need it.

                  • Division 2 Crafting station Re-roll exotics Recalibration station Targeted farming (summit + countdown) Lots and lots of loot. Store god roll stats for gear and talents Share loot with teammates Games only has a small community but if you haven’t tried it I highly recommend it. If destiny would copy their system this game would be ding so much better.

Probably going to get flamed for this, but crafting was bad for the game. I don't have any issue if it stays (or goes) from D2, but if it stays it needs a major overhaul.
