Chasing higher level gear to infuse the same gear over and over is exhausting. Instead of enjoying the content or learning end game activity it’s doing the same things to get higher gear to infuse into the same items over and over and over again .

The power cap would make more sense if it was scaled to make the older content easier by 10 after every season with options to adjust power for loot and difficulty it seems like a good fix it makes sense and lets progression feel earned and meaningful plus would let people who don't play as much catch up without progression being forced or trivializing

4 RepliesPeople stopped playing when they stopped with power caps. My buddy never plays now because there’s no power caps. Stop thinking the world revolves around you and ignore it like I do because I dot play this game for the power cap and I hit every level I need to for harder content just throw the season pass
-
Increasing power caps is not the issues it that they offer no value
-
10 RepliesWho pays these Bungie apologist to come in and say raising the cap is a good idea? They try so hard it’s funny.
-
1 ReplyIt's crazy that they keep instituting a Power Cap increase despite knowing the playerbase as a whole doesn't enjoy it while also enforcing Power Limits on every activity so you're always under-leveled anyway. What's the point?
-
Exactly why I got bored. I’ve got better things to do
-
8 RepliesRaise the power cap but allow over-levelling (like we used to have) in everything but Contest, Master and GM content. Make there be a reason to chase power. Otherwise, what's the actual point?
-
2 RepliesFor the majority of content power is irrelevant it's time it's sent to the DCV. On the super hyper mega small chance we get D3 I hope they go fir a good only level system the light system just doesn't work.

Here's an idea: how about we actually benefit from our time spent grinding instead of having it negated by activities that disable power, and just outright taken away by activities that have power caps? Everyone wins! Our time is respected, the game becomes more fun as a result, meaning more playtime/ money. Even if I'm wrong on that, let's be real here, if you don't benefit from leveling up, there's no reason for it. What's the point in reaching the power cap for master raids/ dungeons or GMs if: * Fireteam boosters exist, negating the need for grinding so long as you KWTD * Regular versions of weapons suffer a negligible difference in stats compared to adept gear, of which most outside of raids don't even get more than 1 extra perk. * Pinnacle gear that's MUCH easier to get can be almost as strong as artifice armor. It's a very simple mathematic equation. If the cap is 2025, the enemy should be no stronger than that. You on the other hand should benefit from being 2040 or there was no reason to level up that high and your rewards should be adjusted to reflect the fact you're playing with a handicap. If they want the game to be harder, more challenging, more engaging or whatever, THIS is how you do it. You don't do it by capping the player (negating their progress), then nerfing the player (outright TAKING AWAY progress), nerfing them again through modifiers, then buffing the enemy. That's not difficulty, that's pure laziness and a slap in the face to their players.

Fully agree - grinding pinnacles to infuse into 100 weapons and armour is a JOB. Completely ruins any fun in the game. OK the artifact resets but to add 10 more light levels to endlessly infuse / chase is just annoying as hell.

If it's not gonna give us an advantage , then it doesn't need to happen If being at pinnacle gave you a DPS/Damage Resistance advantage in endgame again then people wouldn't mind power grinding But extra work for no gain is a dead end -
Power cap grind is -blam!- and I am so over it at this point... It's pointless and just annoying... Its just to force the grind and player engagement.... If they're so hell bent on having us grind power level, tie it to each slot as opposed to individual armour pieces and weapons....

If they quit raising the power cap bungie might see more weapon diversity. Often I think of using something different I haven't used in a while, but many items in my vault are 1900 so I just keep using the same meta I always do. Sure I could upgrade them but with a vault full of 1900's it just feels like an unnecessary chore to keep upgrading them.
-
All the content that matters is power capped!! This is the Bungie Way. Incompetence and laziness.

Edited by Yojimbo: 2/5/2025 3:25:35 AMi agree wholeheartedly.

4 RepliesAs far as I play the game, end game activities like raids, dungeons etc are under season starting level so i don't see the point of what you type bro.
-
3 RepliesYou gain power from doing those content that you do enjoy though, not to mention from the story and from pinnacle engrams that are super easy to get. You will be at max in no time. All the power cap increase does is to give you a sense of progression and also make the pinnacle engrams an actual use.

You do realize you don't lose access to do anything because of the 10 point change right? You people act like the game stole your first born because you have to infuse some gear

I actually got my vault weapons to 2000 and logged in and saw the nightfall, well just took the wind out of my sails. Basically they don’t want people like me playing. I didn’t buy the final shape so I don’t have prismatic. My bow titan is my most powerful character. I am not going to spend 100 buck to have to catch up. So I am kind of locked out because it’s not worth the money to me, even if I wanted to buy a new season it doesn’t make sense for me.

I think they should have some type of middle ground. If they're going to continue raising the power cap every Chapter, then make it so one of every archetype allows for every other item in that class to hit the max once you've collected an engram for it. example: Power cap is 220 I bring my aggressive frame shotgun from 219 to 220. Now all aggressive frame shotguns are 220, including the ones I have in my vault. Now my Slug frames and all other archetypes need the same process to max out and so forth. This idea doesn't eleminate chasing the power fantasy and grind entirely. It just makes it less tedious.
-
4 RepliesEven with power increases you really don’t even need max light/power. Once you figure out that it’s an artificial number designed to make you play more you’ll get over trying to chase it. The only thing you need max light for is master raids, and if you’re doing master raids already then reaching max light shouldn’t be an issue for you.

Agree, such a pain to log back after the update and see all the characters down 20 levels. I know Bungie doesn’t give a flying fart about my concerns, but that kind of stuff makes me want to go play chess instead.

they do it to inflate player numbers and play time so their sony and chinese overlords don't jerk all funding and shut the studio down
-
Good attempt but they already confirmed they prioritise grind rat race against player satisfaction. It's all about artificial metrics.

Gotta pump those numbies up!
