How do you guys feel about this upcoming nerf? They’re killing this thing into the ground and really pushing fusion rifles to be used. Only a matter of time before the nerf area denial grenade launchers too.

Just remember how they hyped and encouraged people to chase the Iron Banner sidearm. Only to kill it with nerfs they knew were coming tomorrow. Nerfs nobody ask for. All of their actual development focus is micromanaging the meta. More anti-player behavior. The Bungie Way.
-
1 ReplyHave to see what the actual numbers are tomorrow before saying it's in the dirt. That being said I like fusions so I don't really care, and I wasn't a huge rocket sidearm user. I'm dusting off my old vex rain fire build.

6 RepliesTypical Bungie. Anything fun and used a lot in PVE gets nerfed. They are great for ad clear and busting shields, so much for this. My question is why bother inventing something new and fun, if all along your plan is to make it just as mediocre as most weapons. Why waste the time? Why not fix something that is not working or buff guns that never see the light of day. Seriously if they were constantly buffing under performing weapons, it would be a better look than constantly nerfing guns.

Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old
I think it’s 💩 I’ll probably swap back to a fusion rifle. -
They'll still be fine. Yes less damage but hell, dps isn't even even a issue for more than 90% of the game.
-
2 RepliesThe nerf is fine. Could've been much worse. Most won't notice a difference.
-
You guys are completely uniformed thinking they aren’t dead outside of Chill Clip. The math has been done. It’s over a 30% nerf to base damage and over 40% to boss damage. They are now off meta aside from stacking AoE/elemental perks.

Rocket Sidearms will be fine Unlike your Bungie name which is very low class and immature -
3 Replies
How do you guys feel about this upcoming nerf?
45% Blast Radius Reduction. 100% Impact Damage Increase. What nerf? Net Buffs.

Only one i really ever use is buried. Honestly sometimes i kind of forget they exist.

I don't think Nerf s should be a focus of anything in the game and buffs should be used to elevate lesser used items to make everything even or bring things closer to an even playing field for the fun Factor. With the exception of bugs that cause some weapons or supers to be completely overpowered. However, on the subject of the rocket sidearms, I think this is more of a balance than a Nerf because they are buffing the impact damage by 100%, which is crazy when you consider that these things already smack hard on impact. And if you look at the solar sidearm the name escapes me but it's the one from echoes, it still has an incandescent heel clip combo that can be pretty nasty and adding 100% impact damage to that is just going to escalate that gun even more.
-
Well, they will buff the impact dmg by 100%, so let's see. Tinasha's mastery with a chill clip will be a jack of all trades next season, and the other ones are still very good. They probably will still be meta or very close to it.

Just another day in Destiny 2.
-
Nerf everything who needs good weapons.
-
It's really bad, 30% nerf to boss/mini boss damage, will have to see how it plays out but once again another decent and fun to use weapon is nerfed so that it becomes meh like the vast majority of weapons in this game.
-
I like how they nerfed rocket sidearms in the one thing they were supposed to be doing which is splash damage, because ya know they are explosive? But Bungie has just made them effectively just a sidearm that uses special ammo and the actual special part of the archetype is now way less effective. The 30% nerf against minibosses and bosses in my mind is just telling me they are going to spam way more of those like they did in Vesper's host.
-
1 ReplyI think they’ll only need the attrition orb proc on area denials. Their damage isn’t great when they don’t have the weaken artifact perk on them. I think the sidearms will be fine but maybe you won’t be able to run them in double secondary loadouts as easily as you can now.
-
Lower the blast damage and increasing impact damage. Land your shots and it won't matter as much, it loses a little bit of ad clear potential, but we have a volt shot and incandescent roll already in the game so it all balances out. It's not worth crying over
-
it was needed. rocket sidearms were already insanely strong and with the perks we got on the IB one?
-
Edited by Dooodley: 2/3/2025 1:41:15 AMBut are PvE'ers really going to switch to fusion rifles though? I feel like they could give them a 1000 % damage buff and I'd still never use one with a charge time. They're so incredibly boring to use and sidearms were made for easy/solo content anyway so you don't really have to worry about min/maxing in those situations anyway.
-
4 RepliesAnyone who understands the game knows they will still be meta. The nerf was inevitable, but it’s not even that bad
-
1 ReplyFusion Meta next season Sidearm was too OP so nerfing it was a must so that people would use other specials.. same goes for consecration nerf which needs to tuned again tbh
-
18 RepliesSounds like the typical seasonal meta buff/nerf cycle to me. Why make the effort of making good guns when you can nerf stuff into the ground
-
To me it makes beacon rounds almost essential.
-
I don’t think it’s gonna be bad. They are mostly used for add clear anyway v

Edited by Twilight Imperial Paragon: 2/2/2025 1:39:42 PMI feel like they could’ve left the damage to vehicles alone at least, oh well.
